They'll handle it, but it'll most likely take a few weeks.

I'm sure what I'm about to say won't go over well because everyone loves JL, but that is the type of thing that happens when you end up paying for a logo. They've been selling way over priced subs for years, and they handicap their designers badly, so the great minds that they have at the company don't get used as much as they should. By the way, the official reason that JL gave for not having rubber surrounds in the past, was that there is no difference in sound, and I agree, but dependability can be affected. Besides, it's more expensive, and they don't make enough selling woofers with stamped steel baskets and foam surrounds that get redesigned every 8 years to afford a rubber surround. I'd like to mention that JL was really innovative back in the day, but they haven't done anything like that in a while, and they're going to have to if they don't want to get bought out....

Well....I was told it will take anywhere from 4 - 8 fucking weeks!!!! For a top notch company, I'd expect like a week of two at the most. I think I'm gonna do some sub shopping soon. I can't be without bass....an the fact that my trunk now looks shit doesn't help either!!!!

Quite a while ago when I bought my first system, I blew a 12WO and the store sent it back to JL and they replaced it, but it took about 3weeks.

I was always told that they use foam surrounds becuase it makes the sub more efficeint

The surround does not have much to do with the efficiency of the motor structure... someone has lied to you.... There's a lot more too it like windings on the coil, thickness, size, gap, etc...
