Angry My $1000 DVD Player doesn't play DVD-R's

I just found out after playing with the player for the last hour thatt the player doesn't support the playing of dvd-r's, but does play cdr's. That make little sense...oh well.

So now instead of making dvd's with all the music videos on them i have to use vcd's instead...so now i am loosing some quality and only fit about 9 videos per cd

hey arn 2000 tl i hate to break it to you but sony is not all it is cracked up to be... there are plenty of car dvd players that are better than sony... and sony is notorious for not being able to ready burned cd's and dvd's... personally if i were in the market for a car dvd player i would look at pioneer, alpine, icon or accele... sony would not even cross my mind...

well i ordered some dvd+r discs and should be here by the end of the week so if they work then problem solved....the reason i went with sony was because i have always been impressed with their reliability and performance. I have Sony product everywhere in my house, from tv to clock radio I have had other VCR's and TV's but they never lasted as long as a Sony.

If you want to find out what DVD players will play what beforehand, try searching on http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers They aren't complete, but they can help out quite a bit sometimes. That could also tell you if it'll play DVD+R instead. . .

yeah sony is a good brand for some home things. but they arent as good as they were before on a lot of their things anymore. the best thing of sony that i could think of is camcorders and digi cams. just like bose good for home and look at our cars they arent the best. alpine is good for car audio and video. there are a few others but alpine just came up to mind.

actually try some different media. I would try some memorex, or stop by a local apple store and pick up some of Appl'e DVD-R's. I have used those dvd-r's and i havent found a single dvd player that doesnt accept them. give it a shot.
