MP3 player questions...please help
My friend recently purchased a mobile MP3 player from Dell. This thing is amazing. Since my Alpine DVA-5205 doesn't play burned CD's or MP3's, I'm now interested in purchasing one. He connects the MP3 player through a mini head phone jack (3.5MM is the size I think). Does Alpine decks have a mini head phone jack on thier multimedia systems? I looked on the brain unit and didn't see one. And if there isn't, is there a way to hook up the head phone jack to an RCA input? Some kind of interface? Thanks for the help.

hey Dennis-
As for the head unit, just look to see if it has an auxiliary input. It should be listed in the technical details, if not in the regular description. Check out the Alpines on www.crutchfield.com, they will tell you which have aux. inputs. Thats all you need. The input will be regular rca cable.
For the cable, all you need is a 3.5mm to rca y-extension cable. It plugs right into the headphone jack, and then has two rca outputs at the other end.
Then if you look at the accessories for the mp3 player on the Dell website, they have a couple different car kits. They have a holder that fits into the cupholder, thats what I got. Its pretty sturdy. I would definitely recommend that to mount the thing.

Oh yeah, both of these products are made by Belkin. The cable costs $10 and the holder is $18 on the Dell website. I don't know what they cost directly from Belkin, but if you find them on the Belkin website use this coupon 35491 at checkout and you will get 50% off your order (before shipping).

Awesome! Thanks beetroot. I heard of a couple people using the y-extension cable. Some of them said the audio isn't clear all the time. Have you had any static or other audio problems using the cable? Thanks.

I actually just got this stuff a few days ago, I haven't hooked it up yet. The Belkin cables are very high quality though...I can't imagine any reason for static if you use these so long as the connections are good.
