Video Screen Location

I was thinking of putting a video screen in the glovebox so when it is closed you keep the stock appearance. What is the biggest screen you think I could fit in it.

I have no idea other than the TSX glove box is small. I can barely fit my gun and the owners manual in there as it is. It has little depth too. I also have an Oakley vault crammed into the side as well.

I would have to say something on the small side. I know that is little help, but I have never tried the install you are describing.

what about the compartment underneath the stock headunit? That would be a nice place to put a screen (if it fits) and you can close the lid.

Glove box is too small... The pocket area would be hard to see with it being low and LCDs having fairly narrow vision fields...

I suggest, in asending order of complication:

a) sun visors

b) modifying the sunglassholder/lights/etc area for a flip down LCD.

c) removing the stock center air vents, re-routing the airflow to the side vents, and fabricating a mount for a motorized LCD in their place.

Mount an Alpine nav unit in the storage compartment, (underneath the non-nav ACC). It's a regular DIN sized unit with a motorized LCD that slides out like a cd-tray, then rotates up about 120 degrees.

you could mount the hazzard switch anywhere, you don't really use it that often... glove box perhaps?

The problem with the power screens in the lower pocket is that the gear shift can be in the way of it opening, and it might not clear the 'blue light' overhang area.

If you really are set on it you can mount a 5.1 inch screan in the glove box. My portable DVD player seems to fit fine.

no but i dislike the motorized ones anyway. my screen will look a lot more custom as though the screen was meant to be there... goodd news is later on i can hook it up to an aftermarket navi system as well.

i like my way more.... 2 reasons...

1. I like to keep my vents where they are
2. Its illegal to have a screen on in view of the driver while the vehicle is in motion. Your screen is easily seen through the windows as on. My way its in sight of driver; and passenger and its outta sight for anyone who cares to look in while the car is in motion

will this screen come out far enough so that it can tilt to an angle that the driver would be able to see if i would install it where the compartment below the a/c controls are

A 5.8" screen for an aftermarket navi mounted that low? Man that's gonna be hard to see...

you would think so; but once u see the screen in there. it really isn't bad at all. maybe its cuz i sit farther back. i'm not ghetto where my front seat is basically on top of the rear seat but its far back for me where its just a glance down.

i am liking this dvd player idea. soory to hi -jack your thread, but i have the navi with tv tuner conversion already installed. i currently use my playstation 2 under my seat to play dvds. i wonder if this dvd player could be an alternative...? any thoughts on where to mount in OTHER than the cd storage comparment?

the screen? not a one... there simply is no place to mount it unless you start cutting into the dash or doing something radical like getting rid of your vents. (not practical)

the only idea i could think of would be to have a piece of fiberglass made to make like a covering for it and put it ontop the vents and make it flow with the dash.
