If the trunk is sealed up pretty good, that 12" square could be making enough pressure to do that. I am not sure what you could do about it. Do you have sound damping on the trunk lid?

its probably because the trunk is sealed pretty good, not cause there is flex in the car

Over long term, I think it could weaken the metal a little. It would depend on how much flexing it does. Just a little bit probably would not hurt. But, if it is major flex, then it would have the same effect as bending barb wire. The more it moves back and forth, the weaker it would become.

I've witnessed the same thing on my Prelude's trunk, and I just have a single 12" JL W0 in it. With hella Dynamat Extreme on the lid and rear decklid. I was only doing some testing though, don't normally have the bass up like that.

I dont feel so bad anymore casue the way my car flexes after seeing a suburban that Ultimate audio did. This suburban looked like it was heavly breathing. IT had 6 Solobaric L7 15's with a Kicker 1200.1 amp to each 15 and they where all in a vented box. There was a crapload of kicker resolution components and tweeters, they where all running with couple of 800.4s. There was a total of over 10,000 watts RMS.
