MB Quarts...

I know that MB Quart speakers are great speakers. But I am not sure if model (rcs) is any good. I can get 5 1/2 speakers with tweeter combo for $120 new. I've used MB Quart speakers before but I am just not familar with this particular model. If you guys have this particular model or have heard the sound... lemme know. Thanks!

My personal opinion again...but I think they're mid/upper range...above Kenwood and Alpine but below Infinity, Focal, JL, Image Dynamics, A/D/S, etc.

Now you're asking if RCS is any good...MBQuart doesn't make an RCS series...they do make an RSC series...which is their "reference" series and no, it's not anything special. It's the low end of MB Quart...as always I'll stick with my Infinity and JL.

IMO Infinity's are in the class of Kenwoods, pioneer and alpine etc. Like those generic commercial brands they try to throw at you at Circuit city. Even the lowest MB Quart series the Discus series are better than the kenwood top of the line. The MB Q series is there top of the line but you're going to be looking at 600 bucks for the set. It's the lesser known brands like Dynaudio that are 800+ and the clarity in indescribable.

IMO you're crazy . Infinity is way above Kenwood my friend. The makers of Infinity are Harmon Kardon, the same company that makes not only Infinity Car Audio, but Infinity Home Theater systems, JBL systems, and most importantly JBL concert systems, the same ones used in just about any concert you've been to, as well as all of the latest Olympic games. Just because you're not paying $800 for them doesn't make them a lower quality. I assume JL is in the same class as well then? Oh boy...

Dynaudio...

Yes... I have heard of Dynaudio. I hear that they are very high quality speakers even though not many people have heard of them or been exposed to them. Hopefully I'm gonna check on these soon so I'll be able to compare and decide.

its funny, in most cases people who likes Infinity hates MB, and lean towards boston acoustic, and people who likes MB hates infinity and boston acoustic, and likes polk more, its not a fact or trend, its just something i've noticed among my friends, and people i've met.(so dont try and argue with me)

i own MBQ, and i swear, infinity just dont sound that badass to my ears(that apply to their car audio components only), then again its MHO, i suggest the fellowing brands, go check them out

Focal
ADS
MBQ
OZ audio
POLK (only the momo series)
and if your on a budget, the clarion top of the line components actually sounds pretty darn good

I prefer Boston Acoustic.
I like MB Quart too.
OZ Audio is nice too.
Never heard Focal(just good things about them)
I really do not like Infinity.
And I would not buy Infinity Home Theater Systems, or JBL. Just my opinion.

I love Focals. Even the low end Focals sound great. MB Quarts sound nice too. If I was you I would try to listen to a few different brand names because everyone has they're own opinions about speakers, especially components. It also depends on how much money you are willing to spend. You can probably get the lowest end Focals for about $250.

To each their own. I have heard an Infinity setup vs. Dynaudio setup vs. Boston, MBQ, Focal in the same exact car and setup. This guy had money to burn and changing system's was like changing socks for him. And what we concluded Infinity was not top tier and defninitely wasnt in the same league sound wise.

Just because Infinity makes car audio, home audio, or concert audio really doesn't mean much. Take for example Lincoln Center in NYC..all Bose. I've never been to the Olympics, but Radio City Music Hall..BOSE. The "late" Club Twilo..known to have the best sound system in any club on the East Coast, had JBL as some other brands that I was too much under the influence to notice. We hate our stock Bose system..why isnt it the best? "One of NY's finest concert hall has it so it should be good enough for my car" ..?

What I'm getting at is, those places have that equipment partly because of promotions and deals. Yes its for the equipment sound as well, but just because the brand is in Britney Spears' house doesn't mean it belongs in my car.

Dont get me wrong, Infinity's are great, but for the price (relatively affordable) and it's availability (in Circuit City) as well as its construction of the speakers..they wont blow you away. Maybe they're not in the league of kenwood and pioneer, etc. But their use in many other places isnt a factor that would place them far above those brands just mentioned. Each company has a specialty but just because it is good in the home doesnt mean it's good in the car. I might put Infinity in the home if I have the opportunity to test and see that it is better than the current Klipsch setup (sp?--never get the spelling right). But I know one thing for sure..I won't let 2 infinity kappa perfect subs take up space in my trunk.....

Ok..this is turning into sounddomain. Great opinions..but I believe my choice of MBQ Q's over Infinity isn't due to craziness..unless I had some cotton stuck in my ears.

Yeah I guess all of this is just one big IMHO . Anyone's best bet is to just go listen and see for yourself. And of course different cars make different setups sound better or worse.

Much Thanks...

Thanks guys. I guess I will just have to go check 'em out and experience the different brands and setups for myself. However, it was helpful information on getting started as to what brands to pay attention to. I've listened to most of the brands before and have to agree that depending on the car and other factors, it makes a difference. I'm a music major so I can hear the differences quite well when I get the chance to. My ex-boyfriend worked for stereo installation so I got to try out the different brands that you guys mentioned. I guess I wasn't that picky at the time so I didn't pay to much attention to it. But investing in a better sound system is now part of my plan. I asked about the audiobahn cuz I have a friend with connections to those speakers now and wondered if anybody thinks anything of it cuz I haven't really heard or experienced them. As for the MB Quarts, I wasn't sure what series those were. Now that you say the RSC series are their low-ends, I've decided not to get them. Thnx.
