Mb Quart. Help Please Quick

My supplier sent me the wrong model that I ordered of the MB Quart 6X9 for the rear. The sent me the DKC 169 which are 2 way speakers. I ordered the DTC 169 Speaker which is a 3way 6X9. They are telling me that the DKC is better, and I was like Bullsh** but now I have to return it to them, and hope the give me my money.

What speaker do you think is a better model ??????

the DTC sound like they would be better. Their sensitivity and freq response are almost identical. I would go with the 3 way.

I disagree. For his application a two way, better yet a mid bass driver, would be much better. The more high frequencies you use in your rear fill the more it starts to pull your soundstage to the rear of the car which is a no no. You want your soundstage to remain in the front of the car... Rear fill should almost be inaudible.

I had pics up of my new wheels. I forgot what the thread was. If you search for new wheels and tires under my name you should find it. If you are looking for pics of the system, I had some up of the gear in my living room a few months back but the stuff is not yet in my car. It should be finished by the end of July...

I have a new digital camera on order and it should be here any day now. When it gets here I will be itching to try it out so let me know what you want to see pics of and I will take some as soon as the camera arrives!

You can always pan it to the front. Wouldn't a 3 way give you more clarity?

For those of you adventurous souls out there try the "Hafler" surround matrix principle us old farts did in the 70's... (OH! I miss my '64 GTO with the factory spring reverb)

Clip the "-" rear speaker wires from both 6x9s' *

Connect both "-" wires from the speakers together with a jumper wire, leaving the "+" wires intact to the rear speakers. Don't use the "-" from the amp.

This mod feeds the "difference" L-R, R-L signal to the rears giving a pseudo surround effect. Use the fader to vary the level front-to-rear but be aware there will not be any low bass frequencies. ( I assume everyone has a sub

The sound effect will vary with how the stereo program material was recorded and will and should NOT have any output with AM mono sources. For best effect the balance control must be centered. This method should work for those with or without an aftermarket rear ch amp.

* GRY/WHT left -
RED/YEL right-
BLU/YEL left +
BRN/WHT right +

(2001 CL-S) wire colors may vary between year/models Y.M.M. V.

I seriously hope that you don't mean to use the fader to adjust his soundstage. No theree speakers on one chassis will not provide more clarity... E-mail me if you would like to discuss this!

No seriously I was just wondering about the 3 ways. And I know you can adjust the soundstage however you want with the reciever, cut the rear by 6 db and it will sound twice as far away.

But distance is not what detracts from the front soundstage. It is the actual upper frequencies. IMO unless you are doing an A/V setup you should not even have a tweeter in the rear. This is just a general rule of thumb that I have found to work very well, but in the end it is a matter of personal preference. I know poeple who would never give up their 2 way rear fill setups. To me it just throws off the imaging...

Phat! Do you know if the offset is +48? They look like they stick out a bit, and you appear to have a lot more lip than other CL/TLs I've seen with those.

(Who says you can't have 2 topics at once in a thread?)

Yes they are a +48. The tires stick out probably about 1/4 of an inch. Just barely. I think it actually looks better this way. For some strange reason it makes the fenders look wider... My winter tires which are 205 50 17 seem to recessed into the wheel well...

Heh, I agree. Having the tires/rims flush with the car's fenders makes it look more aggresive. Good job.
