Manual A/C control with after market nav

Hello,
This is my first post on this forum so I am noobcakes; I searched and searched, read the faq's and dyi's I could find on the subject and did not see this mentioned, I hope I am not repeating a thread... so here it goes.

I just got a 2002 Acura TL type-S and am loving everything except the nav. I went to my local car audio shop and told them I wanted to replace my nav unit but was concerned about how I would control my A/C unit as my nav unit provides the manual control features for the A/C in my car. He very quickly replied, 'yer screwed.' Were those guys wrong?

So, how do I keep manual control over my A/C with my upgraded nav?

Thanks for the great forum!

Honestly I've never seen even the Navi replaced. Most people opt for buying a dual din Navi to replace the factory headunit.
