Low Pass Filter Freq.
Low Pass Filter Freq.
Just a quick question... Where should my sub amps LPF be set to. The installer left it at like 125 Hz, but that seemed a lil high, I lowered it 80Hz but i feel like im losing some bass. I have two 10s and an alpine amp in a ported box. What does everyone else do??? Thanks
80 is fine, but it's always where it sounds good to you - take responsibility.
Is it a switch or a knob? If it's a knob, you can experiment a bit, because the labels don't correspond precisely.
You did lose some volume, but no LOW bass. You might have to bump your output gain a bit to make up for it.

It's always a taste thing. In one of my previous vehicles, believe it or not, I set the low pass to 80Hz and the high-pass to 120Hz. Technically this is bad because nothing was set to respond between 80 and 120. However, if I let either set of speakers hit those frequencies, on certain songs, the bass hummed very irritably. I figure the cutoff is not hard, it's a slope, so even with those settings I was still getting those frequencies a little.
Anyway, I said all that to say don't worry so much about what the "proper" setting is, just go with what sounds best. I personally don't like hearing much mid bass from a subwoofer because it hums to much.
