Looking to get a new headunit

Sorry if this should be in the performance parts etc.. but.
I am looking to put a new headunit in my car, either double din with a screen or single din with a flipout screen. But I have no idea what to look for or what i need for it.. All i know is that I want it to look nice and have a direct connect with my ipod so i can hide my ipod and control it though the screen itself. any ideas or suggestions?

Got a budget? Any other needs besides the Ipod control?

The cheaper the better, not 100% sure of my budget just because i know i need to install it, wiring harness, and the fitment around it.
navi would be nice but isn't needed
touch screen would probably have to be a must
being able to run the ipod through the screen is really th most important thing for me
dvd player or at least video options through my ipod? is that possible?

If you buy from Crutchfield, you get all the installation stuff you need. If you know what you're doing, you can hook it up yourself, shouldn't be too hard except maybe the navi.

Anyway, here's one of the higher up choices: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130AVIC....html?tp=20212

Here's a little bit cheaper option, but you're also going to have to buy an Ipod adapter: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130AVHP....html?tp=20217

Your call really, I like Pioneer decks, but it's really up to you. Maybe talk to one of the Crutchfield tech's, they've always helped me quite a bit...

the first one I found at best buy for $466, but I do like both of them. For the second one that is shown it looks like I'll have a cord running out of the front of it?

Yes, if you want to add another input. The Ipod hookup will be in the back of the unit.

For the second one, avh-p3100dvd, you have to use the front usb port for your ipod with a pioneer specific adapter. There is no connection in the back of this unit for ipod. Unless you wanted to try the old school adapter than worked through the IP-Bus port in the back, but that adapter was beyond slow and may not work properly with these new units. Also, I havent seen that adapter in the longest time so you may have to search for it....
