Looking for an amp

I've been meaning to get an amp, but never had the money and time to buy one to complete my system. It's been almost a year now since I've gotten my subs and HU (I know it's sad )and now that I'm graduating, I really want to buy an amp so I can finish installing my sound system. I've had everything ready to go except for an amp...grrr...

I have 2 12"s Kicker Comps (Non-VR) 400 Watts (I think) and a Pioneer DEH-2400 HU.

Now what would be a great, but cheap amp I can get? I am a total newbie when it comes to car audio. I am still learning how to understand all those meanings, but that's going to take time. I was looking for something in the $150 range or less. I just need something that will power those subs and maybe a little more juice when I want to turn it up. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

I would also look at JBL. You can pick up a 600.1 for around that. If you can run your subs at 2 ohm total load, the amp will put around 300 watts to each sub.

Hmm If I increase my price range to $200 instead of $150, can I get something good? Or Should I try to find a used JBL 600.1? BTW, any good websites that sells car audios? Searched a few places like crutchfield and etc, but didn't find this amp.

The subs are only rated at 125w rms each. Do you have the 4 or 8 ohm subs? What type of enclosure are they in? What size is the enclosure?

I have pushed 160 watts to those subs easily, I just installed to 12 comps in a focus last week with a 300 watt lanzar amp, it was a cheap system and thats all the guy could afford but it dosnt sound that bad. if they are 8 ohm woofers get a fosgate 300s or a JBL 600.1 if they are dual 4 ohm look at the new alpine mono amp that is about 150 online.

I am not sure of what the specs are for these speakers. I bought them from a friend and it was already in a box. The enclosure is sealed. Haven't measured the enclosure though.

At the very least could you find out the impedance of them? I believe they are available in both 4 and 8 ohm versions. You could probably take one of the drivers out and it will say on the magnet...

Ok so you can wire them in parallel for a 2 ohm load, and they need about 250w rms combined.

You can try this:

http://www.thezeb.com/caraudio/us_acoustics.html

(the 600d)

It is class D and the quality is pretty good. It will give you some headroom for your subs (375wx1)

Anything that competes with this amp will be fairly similar. There are variants from MTX, Rockford, Lightning and a bunch of others. I just think that for the lower priced amplifiers, the US Acoustics one are one of the better buys...
