Legacy Amps???
What's up everyone?
I was wondering if any has had any experiences with Legacy products, or their amps. I saw a 4 channel amp I was interested for $120.00 There are the specs:
- 4 x 250 Watts Output
- 2 x 500 Watts Bridged Output
- 2 x 250 Watts Front + 1 x 500 Watts Rear
- 1000 Watts Total Output
- Polished Chrome Finish w/ Plexiglass Panel
- Remote Control Bass Booster (0-12dB @ 60Hz)
- Fully Adjustable Electronic Crossover Network
- Soft Turn On/Off Circuit
- 2 Ohm Stereo Stable
- Bridgeable into 4 Ohms
- MOSFET PWM Power Supplies
- Variable Gain Control
- Remote Turn On/Off
- Hi/Lo Level Inputs
- Power On LED Indicator
- LED Protection Indicator
- S/N Ratio: >90dB
- THD: <0.4%
- Frequency Response: 20Hz-30kHz
- Thermal, Overload & Short Circuit Protection
- Dimensions: 2"H x 11"W x 12.2"L
:wow:

There wattage is not exact, to put it mildly, for starters. Next, their components aren't the best available. You are better off investing in a quality amp. You don't need the most expensive one either...just like everything else in the Forum, everyone has their own opinions, whether it be Valentine or Passport, Neuspeed or Computech, etc. etc. etc. Anyway, you get my point. Start by assessing how much you can afford, and what you are looking to do. Do you want an amp for just subs; for entire system, etc. Once you have your plan laid out, you can go from there. Tell us what you envision as far as what you want in your car and we will provide our opinions.

Legacy => Lanzar => bad choice. The reason it's so inexpensive is because it's an inexpensive amp. The stated specs don't look so bad...but once you see/hear/tweak this amp, you will understand why it cost so little. Don't get me wrong...I'd love to see an amp manufacturer I'd never heard of offering cheap amps that blew the competition away...but this is definitely not the brand to do it.

legacy amps are terrible, the wattage is over stated, the total harmonic distortion is way to high, and signal to noise ratio is too low, if you pay me 120 bucks ill sit in the back of your car all day and sing and bang on stuff, thats about what youd be getting with a legacy, just cough up the extra dough and get something nicer
Thanks for all of your input, looks like Legacy is out
I'm now looking at Alpine, Kenwood, Pioneer, and Acoustic. I plan on running the stock 6 disc changer,(2001 V6 Accord), 10" sub, and factory speakers just for starters.....

Down to 2!
Alpine:
- Max Power (EIAJ) 75W x 4 (4ohm; Stereo) 180W x 2 (Bridged 4ohm
- 14.4V RMS Continuous Power 4ohm; Stereo (0.08% THD) 40W x 4 2ohm
- Stereo (0.3% THD) 50W x 4 Bridged 4 ohm (0.3% THD) 100W x 2
- S/N Ratio 100 dBA
- Bass Engine+ Ready
- Bass Boost
- 18dB HP/LP (80Hz) Crossover
- 4 Volt Input Capability
- STAR Topology & Duo-B Circuitry
- Darlington Bi-Polar Outputs
- MOSFET Power Supply
- Non Faded PreOut
- Speaker Level Input
- Blue Power LED
The Rockford:
* 2-, 3-, 4-channel or Tri-Way output
* 200 watts x 2 in bridged mode
* 100 watts x 4 at 2 ohms
* variable 50-210 Hz high-pass/low-pass crossover, 24 dB/ octave
* TOPAZ noise-killing differential inputs eliminate 80% of ground loop noise between the head unit and the amp
* NOMAD advanced protection circuitry monitors amplifier and provides "intelligent" shut-down protection without limiting system performance
* TRANS·ana circuit designs keep voltages low and signal paths simple in the pre-amp section, for minimum distortion and maximum musicality
* MEHSA provides more efficient transfer of heat from MOSFET output devices to the heatsink for cooler operation
* preamp outputs for convenient daisy-chaining of amplifiers
* Punch Bass boosts bass up to 18 dB at 45 Hz (wired remote control included for fingertip control)
* dimensions: 13-7/16"W (9-13/16" without endcaps) x 2-7/16"H x 9-7/8"D
* 3-year warranty
I'm kinda leaning towards the Rockford.........

i have had both rockford and alpine amps, both are very good amps, in my experience the alpine will sound a bit crisper than the rockford with no EQ or seperate crossovers on the speakers, but add any of that its a tossup so go with which ever one you like best
