LED blinkers....

Does anyone know the best way to stop LED blinkers form hyper flashing? I know I can put a resistor across the wires for each bulb to slow it down but I don’t know exactly which resistor I need. I’ve also read that a variable load flasher can be used but I can’t find one online. Anyone know what I can do?

a variable load signal flasher should work, if you can find it
i haven't been able to find the replacement part, so mine still blinks like crazy
another way to go is to change the rear signal bulbs to LEDs of the same voltage as your forward LED turn signals... my mechanic told me this would work because you'd be balancing the load on all the flashers

Oh ok. I ordered LEDs for front and rear. I get them today so I'll let you know later on tonight if that works. Kragen has a variable load flasher for our cars. Well, for my gen TL they do. I'll post the link later tonight.

Not true. Mine still hyper blink.

The hazards all work but they hyper blink. Right blinker works but again hyper blink. The left blinker doesn’t work period unless I swap one LED with a halogen, then they hyper blink. Any clues?

that's not what i wanted to hear... i was just about to order LED rear signals too, but now i guess i'll have to try to find a variable load signal flasher first

Okay I fixed the one side that wasn't working. I had blue LEDs in the blinker indicators in my cluster. One of them was interfering with the flasher for some reason. I just took them out and its okay now.

How about this for more bad news. I had someone from www.directauto.com (where I bought the LEDs from) look for a variable load flasher for my TL. It already has one from the factory! They still hyper blink regardless. Maybe an aftermarket one might be better. The only solutions now are either but the Jam Strait load equalizers from www.directauto.com or any other site that carries them for $6.74 each. You need one per bulb. Another options is to put a 50 watt 6 ohm resistor across the power and ground wires for each bulb. Last option which I like the best is to order an adjustable flasher. www.libertek.com makes a great one that will flash from 1 single LED to all the stock bulbs. It can be adjusted from 1 to 6 flashes per second! It costs $35 and needs to be shipped from Canada. The ONLY problem with this is that its made to replace a 2 prong flasher, not 3. I know my gen TL has a 3 prong. I'm not sure about yours. Libertek is researching for me to find out if it works. I'll let you know. I have all the LEDs installed and they look nice and bright. They spread light nicely. If you look inside the blinker you get blinded. :p

i'm liking the libertek solution as well... i'd love to have that functionality, and from their website, it seems like a very well built product... please keep me posted... thanks!

I went to Autozone today and picked up a heavy duty flasher. Its not made to work in our cars so I tried to rig it. TLs have 1 flasher for both hazards and blinkers. I wish I knew exactly how it worked. Anyway, the flasher block has 3 terminals. Power, ground and load (bulbs). This flasher only needs 2 to work. Power and load. I hooked it up and it works perfect with the hazards. The blinkers however, dont even blink. They just come on really dim and stay dim. Any ideas?

I just wanted to let you guys know I fixed the hyper blinking by modifying the stock flasher unit. It's very easy as long as you have some soldering skills. All you need is to go to Radio Shack and pick up a 1 Mega Ohm Linear Potentiometer for $2.49 and slap it into the stock flasher. Go to this site for reference.

Those instructions are for 96-97 Accords. It shows several different electronic flashers on the bottom. You would need to remove yours, snap it open, and compare it to the pics. Mine wasn’t the first one shown, it was the second from the bottom. Hopefully the new gen TL’s use one of those also or else it’ll be very hard to find out which resistor to de-solder. I don’t see why Honda would use a different flasher though. We have the same amount of bulbs and all. Its worth a shot.

BTW, I used Jam strait LEDs from www.directauto.com I love them. I would try to get Hyper Amber instead of Super Amber. My Super Ambers are very bright and the Hyper Ambers are even brighter! I should’ve just got the brighter ones. Also, I had to order 3157 bulbs because they don’t make 7440's yet. They were a little too wide so they had to be modified a bit. www.autodynamic.com sells all bulb types in LEDs but they were out of stock. If you have patience then give them a call or shoot them an e-mail.
