According to some all knowing guy in here (elduderino), apparently its not necessary for the TSX, but not sure about the other cars

Knowing that a Clean Sweep is not needed in an Acura is not "all-knowing". Just involves a little reading. Since it's more important to make a smart aleck comment that it is to answer the question, I guess your posts have more to do about posting and less to do with the actual helping.

The best adapter for the TSX and the other Acuras with preamp outputs is a pair of one-male-to-two-female RCA "Y" adapters with the male ends cut off and the cut end stripped back.

That salesman doesn't kow anything about OEM systems - and most installers don't either. That's why the Clean Sweep was invented - to try to make these ingorami more comfortable interfacing with something they don't understand. It's also a way to help with some of the cars that are more problematic than Acuras.

What car are you looking to interface with? With the TSX, we know it's not needed. For the 3G TL, there MIGHT be some EQ-ing of the signal, but probably not - it seems to be in the amp in Acuras if there is any.

Any 3G TL Portland owners who'd like to have their preamp signal tested with an RTA to show whether it's clean and flat or not, please let me know...

My friend works for an electronic store and hes pretty knowledgable. I asked him his thoughts on the Clean Sweep and he would definitely tell me if I needed it. He said save your money. Yes it will help with other cars but you dont need it for the TSX. If you want to replace the entire system, including the head unit, tweets, stock amp, then do it. But dont waste your $ on the Clean Sweep.

Buy more JL subs and amps!!

p.s.- JL I love you and I know Clean Sweep is great, just not needed for my TSX

hahah

You know I was trying to give you props on all the info you have posted about the TSX pre-amp, thats why I put your name in there in hopes that this person would look at your posts, but apparently you can't take a compliment.

Yes, I'm looking at a JL Audio multi channel amp and Focal speakers unless I can still get the upgrade group buy for my CL but still keep the factory headunit.

The salesman is trying to say it's almost a must have with that set up, an extra 350 dollars piece.

I want to thank everyone for the responses and the knowledge you've pass on.
Just something like this gives me ammo to throw back at him

the only time you would need a jl clean sweep is if you are going to continue to use your stock head unit and the internal signal is eq'ed to make up for crappy stock speakers. you will not need to use a clean sweep if you are using a stock head unit that is not eq'ed (tsx) or any aftermarket head unit. i don't know if your cl head unit is eq'ed or not, i would pm eld and see if he has tested a cl head unit. remember, the job of a salesperson is to make sales, not always to get you the best advice. jps
ps. i run a 300/4 and a 500/1 right now and can't say enough good things about them

Hmm I am curious as to if maybe i could use this in my 97 pathfinder. I recently went back to the stock headunit, but I'm still running the G320 with it. It's hooked up with RCA from the front speakers via hi-lo. I wasn't sure if I should have spliced the rca's nor do i really care, but now that the topic of discussion is up, could this clean sweep business help me?
