JL Audio

Will 3 10 inch W0s in a power wedge box sound good in a Acura CL 3.2. Or should I just get one big JL sub?

personally I would rather get one bigger, higher quality sub than 3 smaller subs. I think the model is a 13w7...pretty nice.

wouldnt take up your entire trunk either, if thats a consideration.

guess it depends on what your going for, spl, rattling windows down the block as you drive, or just quality bass.

this is what i am getting which i hope will fit in the very back of my trunk.

I want it to be loud with a lot of bass and then i am worried about quality spl/bass. I cna't afford a 13 inch w7. Kinda want to stay under 700 for the whole system.

Power it with a JL amp, as they seem to put out more power than many other amps I've had in the same class.
This because the use a regulated power supply.
Stay away from Rockford, weak in my opinion.

So I need to know if I should go with the 3 10in W0s or not with the rockford 351m... I want it to be loud but also want to be able to hear words and have a alrihgt quality. Am I asking to much of these W0s? Talked to the guy today and he said if I went with one 12in W6v2 it would be another $400. Tomorrow I plan to get the 3 unless something changes my mind.

That is the wrong setup for that amp....

That amp is 2 ohm mono stable, and three SVC 4 ohm subs will be a 1.33 ohm load. The amp will go into protection, I'd pass.... If you are going for loud, can you build your own box? Do you have any access to a wood shop that you wouldn't have to pay for?

If so, I can get you specs for a box with a single Eclipse 12, that would easily be louder than the 3 W0's.... The only issue is it's a tight fit for the sub, and can be tough to build if you don't really have any experience. Our shop charges $350 for the box alone, which would not fit in your budget.

Power wise a 351m would run the sub just fine, but I would still recommend a 451m...

As far as JL's having more power than other amps, I would disagree.... They are a 5 year old Xtant design, and they cheaper parts. They are still good amps, and there are many more with regulated power supplies, that give you more for your buck. A regulated power supply means that with a lower voltage, the amp will draw more current so that it can put out the same amount of power. This has advantages and disadvantages, one advantage being no loss of power with wipers, lights, and heater on.... A disadvantage is that it draws more current bogging down your alternator.

I would personally never purchase the current JL amps, but that's only because they're old technology, and a hefty logo price tag. They are very practical for most use, and very flexible, just expensive for what you get (you have to pay alot for that JL logo).....

As far as I'm concerned, get one better sub, or two better subs...

If you were to do a 4 speaker system inside of your car... Which would sound better, 4 good speakers, or 2 Great speakers, with the rears just as a little bit of rear fill?

Hope another drunken post was proof read okay.....

IF u want loud then do the RF 351m and get 2 W0 12's. or One W3v2 12. I mean if u want to sacrifice all that room them go for the 3 10s in the powerwedge box. Also the 3-10's have a 2.7ohm imped, they are 3-8 ohm woofers. Now since its a 2.7ohm u wont get a tru 350 watts to them either. From top of my head I can only think of a Kicker 400.1 would be a better choice than the 351m, The next in fosgates line is a 500bd but that will be a bit much for those woofers. I have heard 2-12W0s with a 200 watt amp and that shit really banged.

3 WO 12's?!?! i wouldn't settle for a that system at all. You said you were going for cheap right? what i would suggest is going on ebay and buy either 2-W3v2 12" subs. even one 12W6 would even be a better fit. thanks for my friend kyle, i undestand exactly what type of power you should be running to your system. Run the whole thing off a 4 ohm 300 watt amp(i'm not selecting brands just a generally pick) and you're box should sound fine. more speakers is not always better. also, you should reconsider the price. 400 for 3 of the shittiest speakers jl audio has to offer sounds like a rip off to me.

^I agree with dets...more does not mean better. take the $ you want to spend for the 3 speakers, and just buy one that is three times better

I actually got my stuff installed yesterday. I got 2 12inch W0s instead of the 3 10 W0s. It sounds really good but now I have to stop the spoiler from rattleing so bad. I will post pics later.

I like the JLs a lot but the only problem is the rear rattleing like a mofo. W7 are way down the road for me but congrats bout that. I got them to wire the bass knob up to the front near the TCS button and Cruise control. I love it.

They only handle about 150 watts but they sound awesome and do get very loud with just about 100-150 watts. I have heard one W0 10 with 150 and it banged, and also heard 2 12s with 200 watts and didnt believe it was only 200 watts.
