Installing changer to stock unit

My friend has an 01 TL...his brother just upgraded his system on his 94 Legend L coupe and so has a leftover Acura cd changer. What adapter would he need in order to be able to make the stock Acura CD changer from the Legend work on his TL? Thanks!

Well it could be done...the old Acura's used a changer identical to the CHM-S601's or CHM-S620's (Alpine's) Basically the only difference between the two(acura/honda factory and Alpine)is that on the acura's the audio signal (+) and ground reference (-) were reversed for the Acura's. The changer cable adapters that would allow for use of an Alpine CHM-S620 changer to a factory Alpine or Honda radio just switched the pins (6 and 8 I think) from one end to the other. The problem with the newer Honda's (98+ if memory serves) is that they changed the changer plug on the rear of the factory stereo's as well as I think the protocal that is used. In order for to used an older Acura changer on your new Acura radio you would need a Blitzsafe or Peripheral changer adapter for a 98+ Honda/Acura (to convert the protocal and also the plug) and then you would need to rewire the factory changer cable (switch the appropriate pins) In concluding yes it could be done. Is it worth the time and effort to try and salvage an 8 year old changer that may or may not be on it last leg. No. Here's my advice. Slap the changer on Ebay...take the money and buy an Alpine CHA-S630 and a Blitzsafe adapter for your car and be done with it... Good luck.
