Image Dynamics ID MAX 12"

What does everyone think of this sub? I've heard good things from some of the audio forums. One downside is the 30 pound weight.

Subwoofer Specifications:
Size: 12 inch
Rec. Sealed Box Dims: 1.30 - 1.52 cu.ft.
Rec. Ported Box Dims: 1.80 - 2.50 cu.ft.
Free Air Usage: yes
Sensitivity: 93.1 dB
Frequency Response: 10-150 Hz
Recommended RMS Power: 1000W
Peak Power Handling: 1800W
Impedance: dual 4 ohms subwoofer wiring options

ID Max's are the shit.

They're right up there with JL and Eclipse subs.

Looks like they also require a fairly large box. Otherwise, they are very good subs.

the weight should not be a negative thing. The weight is a good descriptor of how large the magnet, or also how "dynamic" the sub will be. Lesser quality subs often have smaller magnets. So unless weight is an issue as far as racing or strenght of building materials, weight shouldnt be an issue.

I really enjoyed my IDMAXs. Now I'm using the W7s, and I think both are excellent.

i have one and love it. It hits really clean and is pretty loud. You might want to go ported though, if you want spl. I'm not sure what that will do to the sound quality since i am currently using a sealed box. It will be difficult to find a box already made for the sub, so you will most likely have to find someone to make it for you.
