Home Link....how to?

Just bought a 99 TL, but it didn't come with an owner's manual.

Anyone have directions on how to program the home link?

iam not sure about the 99 TL, but on most cars you have to take the remote of your garage and hold it near the home link in your car. and while your pressing the remotes button hold down the homelink button until you will see some kind of light blink. iam not sure how many times it blinks or how that works, but just hold it for a sew seconds until you see some kind of blinking. then test the home link to see if it works. it should work.

hope it works, let me know if it does

That's what I have been trying to do, but it doesn't work. The only thing that I can come up with is that the system that they use where I live and my in-law's garage opener are not able to be programmed in the home link.

Maybe they are systems that change codes or something....

Either that of the home link in the car is a POS.

Thanks for the help though.

Anyone else have any ideas?

hoe far away do you keep the remote? it has to be almost touching the homelink and you have to had it for a while. unless like you said the code changes everytime. in that case theres nothing you can do.

Yeah, I am holding the remote and the home link button in one hand. That's pretty close. LOL!

I think it may be the code thing which make me SOL. Oh well, thanks for the help.

this might work

press and hold the first and third buttons simultaneously for 30 seconds. After 30 seconds, it should start blinking fast. (What this does is it clears any programming that was set before) After, press your garage opener against the homelink and press the 1st homelink button. While both the garage openers and the homelink button pressed, you should be a seeing a slow blinking light that will start blinking fast once it's programmed. (This takes about 5-7 seconds).

Again, if your garage opener changes codes all the time, then it won't work. But hopefully this will work for you.

The SEARCH button finally works! I looked through other threads to find an answer to my problems.

BTW, the programming instructions on http://www.homelink.com is what I used. It worked on my first try.

Thanks all for the help.
