I think they are a division of Audison, although their amps are different from the audison amps.

I know i've heard great things about their components in the SQ department.
I'm sure their subs are geared in that direction too. How much do they cost? Seems like a big step up from an L7. If you like your bass loud, i'm sure you can get away with something cheaper, although I don't know how much they cost, or what they sound like

i was just curious, so I looked up some of the specs.

which line were you looking at? some have some pretty good specs, especially in their efficiency rating. I haven't shopped for subs in a while, I guess I don't need any more to sit in my closet

Im not really sure what line. I know the 10's were $150-175 each. That price is very fair!! I figure 2 of those will give me more volume. As far as better SQ, anything is better than a L7. I've grown to hate that speaker.

Hertz are great sub. But if your L7 have crapped out for the 3rd time then its you not the sub.

Back in 2001 to 2003 when I use to install system I always did systems with L7s everything from a single l7 8" in a s10 single cab with a kicker kx600.1 to 4 15s. Never ever has one blown. Another thing is L7 subs are great. With a proper built box they sound amazing.

Hertz make really good subwoofers.

Get yourself two Hi-Energy 10" (HX250) and you'll be all set.

I'd also look into RE Audio.. they make some pretty damn good subs. The SXù10 is pretty awesome.

Most likely you are under powering the sub

I have a Rockford BD501, I believe its rated at or around 550-575watts. Its def. not underpowered. I never really turn it up either.

Just my own personal experience with the subs has been terrible. Ive had a kicker box before and it sounds much like my custom box now, so I know its not the box making it sound bad either.

L7's are just loud IMO. If you listen to nothing but Rap or Tejano this sub rocks, until it breaks. Its just, after a ton of research, not the best sub for my application.

BD 501 is underpowering. Thats 550 watts at 14.4 volts. The L7s 10s are rated at 600 EACH.

You are clipping the amp and casusing the subs to distort...

Happened to me serveral years ago. I went to a more efficient sub that wasn't rated as well as what I had and it sounded 100X better. A good sub is nothing if you don't have the power for it

ahhhh.....gotcha. Well the 2 Hertz 10's are bought and ready to be installed in a new amp rack. Each one is rated at 250watts. Should be perfect, right?
