HELP! Why doesn't my headunit fit?

Ok, I bought a metra dash kit, and it doesn't seem to fit! Where 2 of the screw holes are on the metal mounting brackets in the car it dimples in. The lower ones cause the pocket part of the metra kit to not fit. And the upper ones cause the mounting sleeve to not fit. Anyone who's installed the metra dash kit, please help!

It sounds like you have the wrong kit. Metra usually make near perfect kits.

ok, well, I needed to get my dash together so I could drive, so I just forced the kit in. It's the correct kit. Everything seemed to go back together ok. It just seemed odd that the metal brackets had to be pushed out about 1/8 of an inch on either side by the lower pocket.

Another question. All the pictures I've seen, the head unit trim plate seems to sit nice and flush with the dash kit. Mine sits in about 1/4 inch deep. Anyone else have an Alpine 9835 installed with the same problem? How did you guys make it so it sits flush?

if you haven't installed the kit, please don't try to "guess" what my problem is.

read the last line of my first post, I asked for help from people who installed the kit. I already said it was the right kit, so why insist that it's the wrong kit, especially if you don't even have it???

Well I've been in the car stereo industry for 25 years and currently work for one of the largest manufacturers. My expiriences with Metra kits says you might have the wrong kit or brackets.
