help me choose a woofer.

some of my old gear is getting sold soon so i need help picking some new stuff... i have a few woofers in mind, but i need help choosing between them. i will be powering the woofer with a sundown SAE-1000D.

1st is the SSA Icon 10"

FS 30.7
83.1 db 1W/1M
900w rms

next, Fi SSD 10" w/ copper coil and BP Power upgrade

FS 27.6
82.7 db 1W/1M
800w rms

(specs are for stock woofer, no upgrades)

3rd is the Fi Q 10" (stock)

FS 26.2
82.9db 1W/1M
1000w rms

last is the AA Arsenal 10"

FS 33.8
85.2db 1W/1M
500w rms

i'm kinda leaning away from the AA, but it is still an option. looking for a mild sql application. something with good quality with strong output. it's kind of a 3 way race between the others. they all pretty much come from the same build house, i think (never really have been good at keeping up with that stuff). i am completely torn on this...

85.7db 1W/1M
1000w rms

maybe i should add that i'm looking for a relatively small box size and will be creating a ported box for this app. now torn 3 ways, my old high school self still wants to wang mad hard.

iirc. a 12" fi q needs ~2.5cu ft ported. i can only assume a 10" will need maybe 1.75-2.0, which is still pretty big..

how much space you have to work with?

i was trying to keep it around 1-1.5cf. the fi website states that the q 10 requires .5-1.2cf ported. also, they recommend that the ssd goes in a larger box .9-1.5cf. oddly enough, the bl has a recommended box size equal to that of the q.

gr8dale - i tend to stay away from mainstream stuff when it comes to car audio. i feel that you can get more for less when you choose the boutique brands over the mainstream. i also believe in the personal service and greater attention to quality with the less than mainstream stuff. you should look into some of this stuff. i guess you can call me a boutique brand kinda guy. companies like Fi, SSA, AA, IA, Sundown and Zed provide one on one customer service and in some cases, i.e. zed, you can actually talk to the owner and engineers of the companies.
