Hello all,
Sorry for the long post, but I think I should explain well before asking!
I have a PPI PCX-2200 running my 2 L7 10" Solobarics. They're running 2ohm stereo, and the amp is rated at 400x2 @2ohm stereo, or 800x1, 4ohm mono.
I am also running a PPI PCX-4125 for the doors. (125x4)
I have 0 gauge power running from my yellowtop batt to a dist block. And, 0 gauge for ground running from the dist block to a very well stripped/sanded seatbelt bolt under the back seat (drivers side).
I of course have upgraded the factory grounds in the engine compartment as well.
The amps are powered by 4 gauge ground and power.
I have 2 1 farad caps in the mix as well.
PPI says the amps should have an 80a fuse. In my dist block, I have 80a fuses for each amp. They (PPI) say that I should NEVER go more than 80a.
*** Problem:
I keep blowing the 80a fuse for the sub amp. It DOES NOT happen as soon as I turn it on, so I don't have a short.
The fuse will blow at different times. Sometimes, I can listen at good volume (60% of max) for a few hours. Sometimes, at 30% of max volume, it will blow after 20 mins.
My gains on that amp are set properly, and I'm sending a good 5.5v signal to it from the HU.
This is driving me insane! I've thrown entirely too much time and money into this system for it not to work! I've been trying to t-shoot this for 3 weeks and I'm about to go postal! :yack:
Please help!!! I'm out of ideas.
Thanks in advance,
Michael
