Question Help - amplifier remote turn on lead ?

I am installing a new Fosgate amp, and I was wondering what people have used for a remote turn-on lead in the TSX ? I really dont want to wire an in-line switch I would have to turn on and off every time I start the car.

If not the HU, I should be able to splice the wire with anything that turns on when the car turns on - right ? And if I can get to the HU turn on lead, where do I find it ?

Thanks for any help you guys can provide

If your mounting the Fosgate in the trunk (which I would assume you are) use the factory amp ACC wire for your remote. It's the YELLOW/RED wire. Grab a wire-tap from radio shack and tap into it. Clean, quick, and easy.

Sweet man - that would work nicely. Could you elaborate on where I can find it - I have not really explored the trunk area yet.

And can I just simply splice the wire ?

I think AJB is talking about the remote lead from the amp in the center console under the "not an ashtray". Here is the color code for the amps wiring.

Oh I see, so I actually have to take the panel apart. I was hoping to avoid dismantling too many things in search of the remote turn on.

Thanks for the diagram though, looks like the red/yellow wire is the one I'm looking for.

Well - yellow/green is the radio switch, and yellow/red is the main ACC stereo power supply.

I assume ACC stands for accessory lead, and if that is the case I believe this is the correct connection, as the amp instruction manual says to connect the remote turn-on lead to the stereo accessory lead, or switched 12v source.

Any comments ?

You want the ACC wire (Yellow/Red) as a remote turn on. The Radio Switch wire may work as well, you'd have to take a volt meter to it to be sure though.

Thanks AJB, I will give it a try this afternoon. That is - if I can find the wire behind the dash. I dont have a diagram of how to remove the panel.

Did you end up using the Yellow/Red wire callmetsx? I have 400w pioneer amp lying around that I might hook up but I was wondering about the remote power switch as well.

Use the radio switch lead. if the voltage isn't hjigh enough, get a low-amperage 12V relay, or even better, DEI's RTOL device (it's very low-current draw, as well as able to be triggered by as low as 5V).

If you usethe ACC lead the amps will ALWAYS turn on when the car turns on. That may or may not bother you, but it is technically incorrect.

I think I'll just have the amp turn on whenever I turn the car on. Sounds easier and cheaper than using relays and shit.

Yeah Dan, I used the yelow/red wire as the remote turn on lead. Just spliced the remote turn on lead from the amp in and it works nicely.

It can be found behind the large storage compartment. There are no screws or anything, it just pulls out.
