HELP!!! Amp Hookup Not Working Well..ASAP

I have a 2001 CL, and I added an amp/subs today. I followed the posted instructions, but for some reason it doesn't seem to work but half the time. I tapped into the rear speaker leads (before the bose amp), and hooked them directly to the low level inputs on the amp. When I start the car with the radio on, everything powers up, but sometimes I don't get any sound. Turning the radio on and off a few times eventually works. Also, if turining it off and on doesn't work, you can unplug one side of the RCA inputs at the amp, plug it back in and it works! When everything is working, I get high volume clipping from the Bose Speakers. Please leave any detailed information possible. Would a Ground Loop Isolater help any of these problems?

If I'm understading you correctly, that's how I hooked mine up... been like that for months and no problems. I did have to use a ground loop isolator, but only to kill engine noise; it worked fine without it.

Did you make a good ground?

I take it you spliced rca's onto the wires you spliced onto the leads coming out of the head unit? If so, sometimes it's easy to let wires touch inside of the connector that might cause problems like you are describing.

Any feedback?

Following up... are these the wires you used?

So:
1) yellow/white (5) is the radio switch that you used for the amp power on switch.

2) then you tapped the rear right speaker:
black (7)(-) & blue (20) (+)

3) and the rear left speaker:
green (9)(-) & red (22) (+)

I added the schematics to my website, if you click the link below...

We are now runnig from the Rear speakers using a Lineconverter/GroundLoopIsolater....The other way was now working. The Head Unit would power up but no sound unless you turned it on and off or unplugged the RCAs from the Amp and then back...and also the Bose speakers were clipping at med/high-high volume....HELP

Bear with me, not trying to insult you...

Are you sure you got the right wires?

Are you sure you got them from the right 'side' of the factory amp?

Are you sure you put the right ones into the rca plug together?

This definitely sounds like a wiring issue...

We tried and retried several different ways just to make sure we were following the schematics right. We finally went and got a LOC and ran it from the powered side of the amp (rear speakers). Everything sounds GREAT now!
