help with aftermarket TSX stereo PLEASE

i was trying to decide whether to use a double din dvd hu (kenwood ddx 7015 or eclipse avn 2454) to replace the factory non navi hu or to put a single din dvd hu above the not an ashtray. what are the pros and cons of the different positions? also does anyone have experience with either of the aforementioned double din hu's? can the oe hu be used with a single din hu?

also, i have a jl 12w6 in the trunk dynamatted. i am going to put focal 5 1/4 utopia components in doors. do i really need to dynamat doors?

opinions on using rear door 6 1/2s versus 6x9s are appreciated. i have no experience with 8 speaker setups but sound quality is VERY important. dont mind using both if better quality is achievable. brand reccomendations are appreciated.

is an aftermarket xover really needed? i am going to use 2 kicker old school zr360s to power speakers (they sound pretty good) and they have a built in xover module that lowpass crossesover at 90hz and highpass at 100hz.

i would like to have this installed tomorrow for thursday roadtrip so all your opinions are really appreciated.

i have the soundgate adapter so that you can hook up an external audio source to oe head unit. i will let it go pretty cheap if anyone is interested.

also have 2 kicker square 12 L7's in box with a huge zr1000 amp that i will also let go cheap in anyone is interested.

My two cents: Don't do this tomorrow for your road trip! Take your time and plan everything out. If you run into problems, you'll just have to listen to it the whole trip. Take your time! (Coming from a guy who's been working on his own system for six months...)

Bad idea. Lots of labor to accomplish a smooth transition involved. Plan on an entire week for this to work.

Good idea. You can buy Honda Accord matl's to put one in place of the large compartment; then put in a 1-din stereo/dvd in there. It's been done before by people with little experience.

Not really. Unless you plan to run them full freq... most people have the amp cut the low end for the sub only.

No. I have the ones that came with my Alpine R speakers. I don't like them; however, a good set of speakers should come with a better set.

Not feasible. Plan on spending a few weeks researching this to make sure the store doesn't goof your installation. And expect it to take a few days for the entire install. Some metal might have to be cut if you use 6 1/2 speakers anywhere.

Regards,

A.

slo beat me to it... : )

Look, I busted out my install right before my honeymoon... but I had spent months researching and I knew EXACTLY what I was doing.

Sound deadening in the F doors is very useful, but it does NOT have to be that full coverage. Pieces do almost as well IMO.

Good point Derrick. If you run into problems, you're gonna have drive the entire trip with them. That would suck. I would just fill up the OEM 6 disc changer and listen to that for now until you get back and you have time to think things out.
