Unhappy HELP Aftermarket HU

I just installed a pioneer deh-6800mp in my 00 TL and now my instrument and climate control lights dont work! I checked the "instrument light" fuse on the drivers side and its fine. Whats strange is that when the headlights are off the odometer, climate control, and clock lights work, but as soon as i turn on parking or head lights nothing works, except my reverse gauges! Please help i really dont know what to do? Did i wire something wrong?

Sounds like it. I just put the same h/u in my 97 cl. I had it wired wrong i think, but my lights worked fine. Took it to a shop, fixed it in 2 minutes but didnt tell me what the prob was. Problem for me was that there was no labels on the wires from the metra harness. Kinda hard to tell which wires matched up.

ok now i got the lights to work, I read something about grouding the illumination wire, so i just grounded the orange(illumination) and orangd/white(dimmer) lines on my metra harness. Now i have another problem. I now keep on blowing that "small lights" 15A fuse in the main fusebox. After that fuse blows i lose all the lights all over again. THIS IS SO FRUSTRATING! im very close to boxing everything up and sending it back to crutchfield......Car electronics gurus PLEASE HELP!

If you bought it from Crutchfield, why aren't you calling them for support?

the reason u keep blowing the fuse is because u r grounding the dimmer wire... u don't need to use every wire that is in the harness... just what is needed... those wires are looking for/outputting a + signal and by grounding them, u r createing a short... connect those two wires together... illumination to dimmer...

But if i dont ground these wires into the chassis, my dash lights dont work. Am I supposed to ground only one of them?

I still suggest calling Crutchfield, they have awesome customer service techs..

But the only way for us to tell you what wires to hook where etc we need the wiring diagrams first. And No you should never have to ground a wire using a metra harness.

Metra Harness
Red=
Yellow =
etc.

Radio harness
Red =
Yellow =
etc.
