Has anyone installed or has an aftermarket deck in their 2001 tl. If so can you please post some pictures or tell me how you mounted the deck. I want to put a rockford rfx 9300 in my 2001 and i'm being told that there is no mounting kit that will fit my car. Just curious what other poeple have done

I'm getting mine done tomorrow. I'm putting in an Alpine CDA 7875.
There's not kit available now. My shop told me it would be available in January. But their just going to put in a plastic face plate for now.

To be honest, i don't think it will look that good once it's done. I have not been able to find a material that matches the interior very well.
Anyways, i don't have a digi camera, so it will be a while before i post a pic, but once i get it scanned, no problem, i post a pic.

ymckoon,
I forgot to tell you that your tweeters in the front doors sound really good.
I could have sworn that you can just mount it in the existing housing.. is it a double din HU you're getting?
Also, for the faceplate, have you thought about getting a wood grain one?? I believe some people have done this already and it looks pretty good.

I thought about getting the wood grain trim. I saw another TL on this board somewhere that had it done and it looked really good.
Unfortunately I don't have the skills to do it, and the shop I went to probably doesn't either
Besides, it would cost more I'm sure, and I'm on a bit of a budget unfortunately.
The deck is a single DIN. I want a double din, but I have not found one that i liked, so i went with a single din.
It's getting installed as I type this. I just hope it turns out decent. I'm crossing my fingers.

when you get the custom burlwood finished, can you tell us how much labor + materials cost to make the face plate?
Also post some pics please
My friend has a digi camera. I'm going to try to post my pic tomorrow night (i'm crossing my fingers here)
Yee, your stereo looks real good man. I like that trim the best out of all 3 that you had!

You can't really go wrong with good name brand speakers. When asking for suggestions, I assume you're asking for component speakers...
A lot of people on this board say Focals are nice. My bro has em and they're cool.
I have Boston Pros and I like them.
Best advice i can give is to listen to them at your local shop and choose the one that sounds the best. Good luck.
