hardwiring radar detector

Don't recommend me getting the V1 or the Escort because I already have the Escort in my Accord. I want to hardwire a Cobra radar detector inside my TL and they don't have any hardwiring kit and I know some people out there have hardwire Bel and Cobra so I'm hoping you guys will answer. I plan to use the straight cord and slice it, it has a red wire (positive) and a white wire (ground). What kind of inline fuse do I use 1A?

If I go the other route, and get a 12V plug extension and cut those wires and just plug my radar detector into it. Would I still need an inline fuse since there is a fuse already?

this is simple, open your fuse box find a fuse that is on when you want your detector on(i prefer a non critical circuit)ie tied to acc. on ignision key. pull the fuse and figure out what side of the fuse holder is hot(wire your grd wire to ground turn on the detector and turn the key on acc and touch the poss to one of the two sides)now you know the hot side, strip about 3/4" of insulation off twist and fold the bare wire in half, hook the wire on the fuse prong that is going in the protected side of the circuit (opp,of the hot side)your done!!its eazy, safe, reliable, & cheap.

So an inline fuse isn't needed? I been told there are accesories spade connectors behind the fuses on our TL. What do you think about using those instead of sharing the fuse?
