grounding location

i posted a while ago about my amp just cutting out...we isolated the problem to be the ground location...i searched many times for answers, but i can't seem to find anybody that says where the best place to ground is. my amp was originally grounded in that little area under the trunk floor..i duno if you guys know what i'm talking about but a piece of it lifts up...if ur lookin in the trunk from outside it's above where the spare is, right in front of the opening from the armrest int he backseat. there was a round metal looking thing in there so we ground it to that..but it keeps cutting out. anybody have a suggestion for a better ground?

also, detailed instructions of how to access the particular spot and how it should be grounded would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

If you get a good reading with a voltmeter across your amp's + and - terminals. you don't need to look for a better ground.

Well, you have a problem to trouble-shoot, but that might be a bit premature... what amp, what speakers?

i have a hifonics 500 W amp, stock components and a 12 inch RE sub..the thing is, my friend was able to fix the problem before by changing to a new ground location..it worked fine for about 4 days and it just stopped working again, i can't really figure out what the problem is..i tried adjusting the ground a bit, but no luck so far.

I suggest that maybe that wasn't it... but you won't find out without a voltmeter, I'm afraid.

do you have any idea what it MIGHT be? anything to narrow it down would help. 2 days ago, my amp just randomly started working, and then stopped working..i see my indicator LED light up and my sub works, and then 5 minutes later it turns off again...this cycle goes on and on, but now it doesn't turn on at all..what might be disrupting the power?
