Grom VL2 vs NavTool

I haven't seen too many threads on this so far. Has anyone compared the two yet? Does one seem better then the other? The only thing I am seeing is the BBB has over 50 complaints filed against NavTool. But then I've seen a few people on here with them installed.

Was just curious what every is using to integrate Apple CarPlay. Thanks!

I was on the fence about this too for awhile. I went with Grom and i have to say, it was absolutely the right choice, especially if you are looking to get Apple CarPlay. Grom just released a software update that includes Wireless CarPlay. That is a complete game changer. You get in the car and there's CarPlay on the screen instantly. I don't know if NavTools isn't going to release that... but either way, I haven't heard good things about them, which was another reason I went with Grom.

Despite getting a faulty unit initially, i couldn't be happier with it!

Good luck in your decision.

Also, I just posted more about the whole install experience. If you have any questions, let me know in the other thread. Happy to help.

This seems like an awful lot of extra unwanted stuff to me. I only want car play, not the android stuff, all those apps, etc. because they are on the phone already. There is no VLite for Acura, but that appears to be mirroring, not carplay.

I do feel more comfortable with GROM compared to Navtool, based on many, many comments about Navtool and the fake review site they use (TrustSpot).

How do you control the Carplay? I think Navtool needs an external joystick. What about the microphone? Is there anyway to use the one the car already has? Do you have to buy a cable to connect the phone to HDMI (the GROM box has HDMI I'm assuming)?
