First I'd just like to say how much I enjoy reading everyone's posts.

Now I would like to get the XM commander installed in the "Not an Ashtray". Can anyone recommend a good shop in Northern New Jersey. I was thinking of trying to do it myself, but I haven't installed any car electronics in 15 years. I would like to go somewhere where they take pride in their work. I know that is hard to find these days. Most places like Circuit City will probably just do enough to make it work.

Actually, you're lucky if Circuit City goes that far...

I don't know NJ that well, but if you're near East Brunswick, I think Zippo's has a store there. They used to be competent and they do a LOT of work...

One thing you can do is go to the Alpine web site and search in the dealer locator for F#1 dealers. I'm sure some of them suck, but the F#1 stuff is so tweaky and limited in production that most of the dealers are Alpine's best...
