Talking GEX-P7000TV in my TL (no AVC-RGB1 needed)

That's right!! on my Nav screen... w/o AVC-RGB1 convertor.

I finally finished installing GEX-P7000TV tuner in my car. I had little trouble powering up radio shack infrared remote sensor, but finally did it w/o soldering 3 wires to the circuit board.

Pic will be posted tomorrow. I am so happy now!!!!! I been waited so~~~~~~long time!!!

Awesome, So You have a antennae Tuner, meaning u get Channels from the AIR, TITE.. Thats cool... Thats the only real good reason to do this upgrade.. Can u Install a DVD Player or anything or you can only watch FOX and CBS NBC And etc..

Also you have a Hello Kitty Remote Holder? You wanna tell us something? We can help.

Songoku,

Can you tell us how you did this conversion in detail? I'm working on the same conversion myself and have the gex-p7000tv. I'd appreciate any help you can give me so I don't have to purchase Vlad's unit as well. Thanks.

I heard it and the FM modulator isnt as bad as everyone says it is. Its only for TV after all, its not like you are getting super duper 5.1 DVD quality sound when you watch tv for cryin out loud!!

It is as bad as it sounds. All the people I know who have navi conversion and have the FM modulator say that at freeway speeds...you hear ****. Like the volume is so low, it's not even funny...the wind drowns it all out. Personally I can't really say cause I've only had the blitz adapter and let me tell you...that thing is worth the money. It allows me to plug anything into it...such as a portable mp3 player. I know you can't expect 5.1 unless you do a major overhaul, but the FM modulator is crap.

The blitz hooks directly to the back of ur deck. Here are pics to give you an idea.

I've hooked up a portable mp3 player too...works wonderful .

Yes. I did it on my 03 CL-S. To "activate" that mode, you press the "CD" button when in CD mode. It switches. If you buy the special blitzsafe plug that has the alpine cd changer adapter also ($75 as opposed to $65), you press the CD again to get to the changer. So basically that would be 3 modes...press CD for the regular in-dash, press CD again for the RCA, and press CD again for the alpine changer.

This pic will explain everything. From 20 pin connector wire, you should only using 7 wires + ground.

songoku,
With this mod were you able to get the On Sreen Display to work? Do you also happen to have the Rat Shack part number for the IR? Did you have to open up the GEX-P700TV to access the contact/wire for the parking brake by-pass?
thanks
coupe

No on screen menu..

Radio Shack's IR sensor # 276-137 but you'll have hard time finding that because it's discontinued.

Why do you need to do parking brake by-pass?? No, I didn't open up my GEX.

Once you installed GEX tuner, FM modulator is OFF position. You need to go to set up menu & choose the FM channel for sound.

Pretty much...

But later on, if you're going to add video source to GEX, you need to set that up too.

You do not need the monitor. You can either install an LM1881N and have the on screen menu, or you can just use the remote by itself. Once you figure out the "invisible" menu it's pretty easy. Look for my complete post soon.

Boom,

What is the LM1881N? How do I hook it up to the GEX-P7000TV? Thank you for any help you can give.

That's what I did. I just needed to turn on FM modulator. Press menu twice & turn on FM modulator. Then press menu 3 times to turn off the menu.

Just gotta memorize it.
