Front speakers in.

The IDs are in and waiting for the rest of the system. Apparently Alpine hasn't released the system. It may be another month or so before I have sound. I'll be bald by that time..........

Here's my pics: http://www.cardomain.com/id/bozzchem

enjoy!!

Thanks!

I haven't got the rest of the system in yet. Since I've decided to go with an aftermarket HU, I'm waiting for the dash kit from Jamie Chou and the HU to become available. I want to get the Alpine CDA-9811 but it hasn't been released by Alpine yet. Once it has, I'll get that and the 6 disc mp3 changer.

So, as you've now guessed, I have NO sound in the car right now! I never realized how long my 20 min. drive to work is. My other option is to get the Alpine CDA-7894 which is available. I'll see how long I can stand not having anything.

If I can ask, how much are you having to pay for the kit? I just looked back at one of the one posted and it is awesome. Even at $170, that is a pretty good deal.

I think he said $180 shipped. He's going to cut a space for my AudioControl THREE.1 eq to fit above the HU. It's taking longer than I expected it to, but I don't have the HU yet so it really doesn't matter.

I got my test piece back from the powder coaters today. I must say, it looks pretty nice. They are doing the real piece now. I am hoping to have it Friday. The color is a bit lighter than the dash but, for free, I can not complain. He is going to try and get it a bit darker. Pics will come soon.

I would love to see some pics of Jamie's dash kit all put back together. The one I say did not have the woodgrain back on. Does anyone have one finished?

AcuraX2,

I have to say that I envy you.

Not only did you put in a set of the 6.5" ID Chameleon comps, but you also built a dash plate to mount your HU in!!

Damn!, I wish I had that kind of tooling at my disposal.

I've got the 5 1/4" ID Chameleons in the doors. I've supposedly got a dash kit on the way. Hopefully, I'll hear back on its progress soon. If not, I'm going to build one myself. For $180 you'd expect to have it in a reasonable amount of time. Maybe I've been forgotten.

Post some Pics!!! It sounds like you've done a hell of a lot of work to get your system in! We want to see it!

I'm still holding out for the Alpine HU I originally wanted. However, I'm losing patience by the day. I've got over 800W sitting here to feed my fronts, rears, and subs. It's driving me nuts!!!!

Glad to hear all has worked out well for you!!!

Bozz....Thanks so much for the kind words. I must admit, at 36 years old, I enjoy this hobby more than ever. I do not know half of what there is to no about mobile entertainment but, I have fun trying. I know I will never win competitions but, that is not my goal. If it stops being fun installing and uninstalling and reinstalling then, I will not do it anymore.

Having my own machine shop has saved me hundreds of dollars over the years. I know just the simple aluminum rings would cost over $100 to have made. I have made probably 10 sets of those over the years. I even cut the holes for my subwoofers on the CNC machines, when they are available.

As soon as I get the trim piece for the head unit back, I am going to post some new pics. They will be of the head unit, 5 1/4 Chameleons, and the amp board. Still working on the sub.
