TSX: Front door speakers upgrade
Front door speakers upgrade
I am looking at replacing just the front speakers. After a ton of research it seems like most speakers wont necessarily fit right out of the box but will need other parts. Please correct me if I am wrong, but these are what I need:
2 x 6.5 speakers (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ce-6032cf.html)
2 x spacers.
anything else? I heard people mention connectors but wasnt sure if that was only needed if used in combination with an after-market amp.

Yeah that's about it. But you may have to do a little fitting. Can be a pain. Just don't expect it to go smoothly. Also, connectors? Meh. Depends more on the speakers than the amp. If the same ones fit then use them. Otherwise, go bare wire, solder, or banana clip or whatever kind of termination that will fit the post. Just watch the sensitivity ratings on the speakers. If they are too low then you'll have to get an aftermarket amp. It can also make 'em sound like crap if you don't have one regardless because the stereo in your car was optimized for the OE amp. After market speakers, if good enough, will likely sound worse. Just keep that in mind. And don't even bother with mid-upper end FOCAL unless you are doing everything.Good luck with the install!
Any ideas on the speakers I put in the first post: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...ce-6032cf.html
They have a sensitivity rating of 93 dB, and an impedance of 2 ohms which from my understanding both would give the loudest sound from stock amp.

I put Infinity Kappa 62.9i's in with the factory amp and they sound great. I used these mounting brackets along with the spacers included with the speakers. And I did use the wiring harness adapters to avoid cutting the factory wires.

I am really liking the Infinity Kappa 62.9i, they are more sensitive than any other I have seen.
What wiring harness adapters were you talking about? are they provided with the speakers?
