CL: Radio Sometimes Works and Sometimes Doesn't
Hi everyone,
I have an aftermarket radio installed on my car and lately it has been acting weird. It will sometimes work and sometimes not, and when I say "not work" I mean there is no power coming to the unit at all.
When it's not working and I drive over a speed bump it'll turn on again so I'm suspecting some loose wiring or a short somewhere.
I had thought it was the radio, but I just installed another aftermarket radio and it won't turn on either. Any ideas? I don't know if the new radio will turn on if I drive over a speed bump or not because I just installed it, but I test it out soon.
Any ideas?

Okay here's the deal,
After I started my car my brother had opened the glove box to put something in there and as soon as he closed it, the radio "magically" turned on again only to turn off as soon as I backed out of the parking lot...
This lead me to believe that whatever was loose was located behind the glove box and this was a win-win kind of a situation for me because I had to replace the cabin air filters anyway.
Long story short, I removed the glove box which was fairly easy and replaced the filters. I then started to mess around with the mess of wires located behind there and the radio would start working again and cut out again. Then I noticed a small, maybe 6"x6", metal box with a about 4-5 plugs leading into there. I checked to make sure they were all seated correctly and as I was doing so I felt one of the plugs "snap" back into place and the radio has been working every since. I should have taken a picture of it, but oh well...I'm just thankful it was as easy as that.
BTW, here's the new radio I got, I must admit that I do indeed like the bluetooth feature of it. Wireless audio streaming and calling. And it was cheap, about $90 from car toys.
Here's the link if any of you are interested for a cost-effective radio with some good features
http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-DEH540.../dp/B0068Y7J5G
My only gripe is that it's too bright at night and even with the "illumination dimm" feature it's still too bright for me...I don't like it. Anyone know how to deal with the brightness? I'm thinking of opening the "face" up and getting some clear glue and covering the LED's with a drop on each to dim it down some.
Thanks everyone!
