Found out how loud my system is.

Today when i was at my local custom audio shop having a subwoofer bass control knob installed one of the techs offered to test my system with a decibal guage that they have. after popping in the snoop dogg album titled doggystyle ( a classic) we cranked my system all the way up and it hit 129.4 db! I had no idea my stereo was so loud, no wonder why my ears are ringing all the time Anyways, i'm sure we could have broken the 130 barrier by doing some minor adjustments but i didn't want to waste anymore of the kids time.

Cool.

The other day I stopped by a truck with one or more subs inside (traffic light), his system was so loud, my ears hurt (and my windows were closed). My passenger also complained. It was simply overkill how much that thing vibrated -- it felt like an earthquake inside my car.

from quiet to extremely loud noise levels there are no rattles. if cranked to absurdly loud levels there are probably rattles it's just that the music is so loud that you can't hear the rattles if there are any. standing outside the car you definately hear rattles with the stereo turned up that loud. that is mainly because of the all the miscellaneous parts in our TSX trunks.

Yeah. For instance, in my trunk I have a valve cover from an '89 Camaro, a coil spring from a '68 Ford pickup, and a brake caliper from a '99 NSX.

What's in your[I] trunk?

Whether noise harms your hearing depends on the loudness, the pitch and the length of time you are exposed to the noise. The loudness of a sound--measured in decibels (dB)--and the length of exposure are related; the louder the sound, the shorter the exposure can be before damage occurs. For example, 8 hours of exposure to 85-dB noise on a daily basis can begin to damage a person's ears over time. Using power tools (at about 100 dB), listening to stereo headsets (at about 110 dB), attending a rock concert (at about l20 dB) or hearing a gunshot (at 140 to 170 dB) may damage the hearing of some people after only a few times.
