Using an FM transmitter will limit the fidelity of the iPod to no more than than FM radio. That is not BAD, but a direct connection will be better.

I use a Griffin iTrip FM with my iPod and it sounds good, but not as good as a CD playing. (Of course, MP3 files, in theory at least, don't sound as good as CD even if direct connected.)

If you do decide to go with an FM transmitter, read some reviews. The Griffin iTrip generally gets the best reviews, and is certainly well intergrated with the iPod. (Note there are 2 versions of the iTrip -- one for the older iPods and one for the current iPod. Make sure you get the correct one, if you order.)

That's what I thought. MP3 aren't good in quality anyways.

What's your experience with the iTrip? Would u recommend it?

I disagree. Listen to a lame encoded mp3 at 256 and I challeneg you to tell the difference between that and a cd. Even at lower bit rates most people cant tell the difference, if the mp3 is ripped properly.

Now if you are downloading garbage off Kazaa then who knows what you will get.

High end MP3 or AAC encoding is pretty good, esp around 320kbps if you want to go pretty high end. However, if you go AIFF (full resolution/datarate) it will be the same quality as the CD. In fact you could even go 48KHz I think, instead of 44.1KHz.

Stereophile even reviewed the iPod in a recent issue (may still be on the shelf).

Check out the sticky for an Aux port for your TSX, or get a tape deck and wire it that way, but I believe the Aux port is by far the best way to go.

Since I don't want to use my parents' credit card to buy the SNHOND3 (they think I'm wasting the money). So I'm looking for something that's easier to get at local store. That's why the FM transmitter WAS my best choice. But after all the comments from you guys, I'd rather have someone to order it now.
Thank you!

Well the only reason i say its bad is because I'm using fm modulation with the avelectronics unit for the navi conversion, and the sound quality is worse than bad right now. however, i think its largely due to a grounding issue that i have to work out.

The reson it's bad is because the FCC doesn't allow sufficient amplification of the signal for good quality transfer.

I have the iTrip for the iPod. The range diminishes significantly more than 10 feet away from antenna. Also, the sound quality isn't that good. You get sound quality from a tape adapter.

I'm hoping to install the SNHOND adapter this weekend, so i can use the ipod in my car. In the meantime, I can use the itrip (I forgot I even have it..since it sucks
