First time installed system** what do you guys think?

hey, well i've been working and saving up for my system and finally got it set up.
here i have

2 12'' JL w6v2 sub
2 Alpine MRP M850 amp
4k Kole Cap
KnuKonceptz wires and accessories

what do you guys think for a first timer as a 16 year old?

its in a 06 TSX with navi. im currently building a custom box to get more room.
i just finished building the frame and going to buy more supplies to put down the fiber glass will post up pictures for that soon when its done.

im planning on adding another amp and sub ;]

also im missing the w6 sticker on the right sub because it was thumping too hard ?

well other than the fact that Im thinking you spent WAY too much on it, it doesnt look too bad, just tuck away some wires and you should be OK in terms of look............... but with a setup like that you cant use your trunk like at all, so its not really my taste............... but again not bad

what kind of headunit you running them to?????

oh and I do hope that you bought and/or have a high output alternator installed

I personally dont like the idea of 3 batteries. Its a little excessive IMO. The wires could have been run under the trunk carpet. Loom could have been used to conceal most if not all the wires, things could have been mounted in different locations to conserve safe, etc.

Overall I personally wouldnt be happy with that install. Its very messy, but considering its your first time its not TO bad.

Do some researching online and read how other people have done it. Look at pictures and see what a clean install can look like. If you have any technical questions feel free to PM me and ask.

I just did my install, replaced all the speaker wire (including the driver's door, that was a bitch) , replaced all speakers (including tweeters), and added my 12w7 with a cap. It took long, but hopefully worth it. Now i am in the same position as you with wires around the sub like crazy since i have BOTH the 4ch and mono channel amp screwed on the box. I need to make it a lil neater but as an 18 yr old with his first big install, i didnt think i did that bad, and neither did you.

heres a shot of my 1st install at 17, that lasted until I took it off for upgrades later down, now ive got a Polk MOMO 10: and plan to add another one in a dual box and keep the amps on the box, because I like practicality as much as I like good accurate bass

now 3 years later im in there wiring all my stuff inside as well, includes Headunit (came bafore all this), all my speakers, an integrated Bluetooth system (got pics on that if anyone's interested), trunk mounted CD changer and all its wiring.... all that is what comes to mind, once you get to know your car, it all gets easy

oh and if thats one amp to each W6 youre definately not properly powering them if youre running series at 8 ohms then youve got around 200W to each, and thats just waqy underpowering them, and if youre running them parallel at 2 ohms each, then theyre getting 800W a piece, and thats WAY too much...............

oh and I agree with Tweak as well, I mean if youve got a total of 3 batteries thats alot of extra weight, and as if the other components arent heavy enough, the batteries are definately heavy enough to mess with the weight balance of the car depending on where they are

Good tip with the wiring. Make sure your running the subs with the amps properly and at the correct ohm level. This will either make or break your system. Ive seen people try to run their subs which wernt able to hand a 1 ohm load and it just toasts the voice coil. If you do not know how to properly wire your subs to your amp or are 100% sure check out this link: Ohm Wiring

It took me about 5 minutes and I figured this out.

Alpine M850:
RMS Power (at 14.4V THD+N, 20Hz-200Hz)
Per channel into 4 ohms: 500W x 1 (0.08% THD)
Per channel into 2 ohms: 800W x 1

JL W6V2:
Cant find a spec sheet but seems everyone runs these at 4ohms.

So heres a little diagram that will help you understand if your wiring is correct:

That was right off the link I posted in this post on crutchfields site. Goodluck!

JL says 500 or so watts is a good place to get power handling, optimal range is around 300-500.............. at 800W they say its into the "WARRANTY VOID" range, and at 200 is in the lower performance area, absolute minimum is 100W, but 200W is still underdriving

you cant, its literally impossible to run a dual 4-ohm voice coil sub at a 4-ohm load (unless you only power 1 voice coil, and thats just dumb), it can only be 2 or 8, it can go to 4 but that would involve wiring both subs to 1 amp
