Post Final word on how to hook up a amplified sub to the stock system

there are 2 conflicting views here... One says it is ok to hook the speaker level inputs of the amp to the 9" bose sub, the conversation can be seen here
http://www.acura-tl.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/000367.html

the other says you tap into the signal on the HU side of the stock amp and run that into the line level inputs on the amp... Is one better than the other? Does one work and not the other?

Mine is working perfectly, I tapped it into the wires going into the factory sub. I tried to tap the wires before the factory amp and the signal was just too low.

I wouldn't worry about using the signal going to the factory sub because it isn't really high powered. It is rates at 100 watts at 1 ohm. But that's because the sub is rated at 1 ohm. So if you are using it for 4 ohm purpose, the power will then be 25 watts.

Is it okay to leave the factor sub hooked up still and just run extra leads to the sub to get the signal?

If the only thing increasing wouldn't the power be 400 watts, or would the currnet drop.

About before the current decreases, my bad. On another note, where exactly do you get the power for the sub from. Where can you tap into the power or do you run a wire from the battery?

If you are using an aftermarket sub, I would not use the factory sub at all.

As for the power, you will have to run a power wire directly fromt he battery all the way to the back of the trunk.

My preamp solved my problem with the low signal from the rear speaker signal. The preamp increases the signal voltage, thus letting my amp recieve better signal. Sounds great, just afraid that my rear view mirror will fall off soon with all the bass.

For those who is using the 9" woofer's signal, know that your only getting low freq...so dont go and try to use any multi-channel amp to run mids and tweeters.
