Factory head unit going through EQ killing low end?

I have 2 Kicker Comp VR 12" subs and a rockford fosgate 550p amp connected the factory head unit, and I noticed that some low bass notes don't seem nearly as loud as other ones. The subs in my old car (they got jacked, thats why my TL has new ones) theoretically aren't as good as what I have now (amp had less power and the subs were just standard kickers) but those same notes hit a lot harder. I know the output from the head unit goes through some EQ first that apparently changes things around a fair amount (the highs are boosted) - does anyone know if the bass is cut in certain frequencies?
I hate paying more for new subs and an amp and having it sound not as good...

Also, anyone else notice that changing tracks on the factory HU takes forever on burned CDs (sometimes up to 30 seconds for me).

I really can't help on the headunit, except bose speakers are know for their very good treble and highs. I have bose speaker in my room and in my surround sound, great highs, junky bass.

With the burned CD issue, I get that alot, it takes forever to get a cd going or change tracks, I had to reburn like have of my cd's that didn't work. I found that Imation CD's work great. I'm burning with Nero software.

I'm not a big exaggerated bass freak, but I do have a printout of the frequency response of the Acura/Bose with and without the EQ in circuit. This was posted on this forum by some nice member. I can't remember the thread now, because I discovered it when I first found this forum back in Feb.

Anyway, while looking at the respone graph... I see that the highs are boosted by about 12db/octave starting at 5Khz and peaking with a 20db boost up at 20Khz. The lows have a similar rolloff. Starting at 45Hz... I see that the lows are rolled off by about 15db down at 20Hz. However, I believe this response curve is probably the head unit output to the door speakers. So I don't know what the subwoofer amp output response would look like?

I too thought that Bose was known for good crisp speakers... especially their tiny cubed tweeter speakers. BUT NOT THESE BLOSE! No offense Capt. Matt, but you can't be talking about these BLOSE speakers when you say they have great treble and highs... You must not own a BOSE equipped TLS... BOSE BLOSE in the TLS! As for your room speakers, I have no doubt that Bose is capable of producing great speakers... They just didn't do it for Acura...

I never said my tl had the best highs, but they are not bad for stock speakers, much better than most IMO. I'm satisfied with my stock sound system, maybe i upgrage the bass and power, and then add some new speakers.

No problem...

No Problem Matt...

I didn't mean to sound like I was belittling you. I'm glad that you are happy with the stock system. I have heard a lot of great things about BOSE and maybe my personal expectations were just not met with the TLS. It's funny, how everyone of us has a different set of ears. To me, the stock bass sound just fine. It is more prevalent than any other stock system that I have owned. However, I personally happen to think that the door speakers lack sufficient high frequency response. Once you take them apart and see that they are single cone speakers, instead of coaxials, it's easy to understand why. But hey, to each his own.

Again, I'm sorry if there was any offense taken by my comments. I'm here to help people out when I can. I don't rest easy making enemies for no reason. Sometimes, I just let my rants about things tend to sound like they are directed to a person instead of the object. I'm sure you've noticed that I ramble a lot. Again, no hard feelings!
