1) Don't use Dynamat, use Cascade Audio VibraBloc. Buy it at Parts Express. Works as good or better, lighter, no asphalt smell.
2) Don't have any pics of the trunk. Personally, I wouldn't use any upside down. Clean before applying, and heat with a heat gun before applying (no matter what you use).

my car has a heap of dynamat in it. There is absolutley no asphalt smell.
All four doors, boot floor and boot lid were done. (Just cant find the piccies @ moment)
Not sure we get Cascade Audio VibraBloc In oz.
All i can say is that it is so worth the $$$ spent

I went with a Dynamat competitor too, raammat.
This goes into the trunk as well, and while the trunk is now silent the cabin is still somewhat noisy. If I had it to do over again, I'd just do the trunk.

I put a heap in my Trooper. Worked fine, but had that issue when it got hot. Since it's getting hot down there, you may have already decided it's not happening for you...?

I used Dynamat on the underside of my trunk lid and on the license plate of my S2000, it really helped. I didn't need a heat gun, and it has stayed firmly affixed through two extremely hot Georgia summers.

I have a rattling sound in my rear deck too. Its only for certain bass notes, the more punchier ones. I've determined that its the part where the middle rear seat belts spools up. I think that the bass is making that part bounce up and down and clanking against something. I'd love to get rid of that sound because other than that my system sounds sweet. I wouldn't mind even removing the rear middle seat belt completely.

i wish i could put an end to the rumors. Dynamat does not stop rattles. it makes the cabin more quiet. and by doing so makes a better environment for your audio system.
if you want to stop a rattle find what is loose and tighten it. or stick somthing between the vibrating materials so they dont touch. it takes a little time to hunt them down but dynamat wont help unless you use it to stick things together with.

i agree, i just need to find a way to get at that part without breaking something. not sure if i feel too comfortable taking apart the rear deck.

yea, now it seems that my tail ligths are rattling, and the little reflectors on the bottom....those are gonna be hard to fix... plus the rear deck...dont know what to do....stressing me out, its only on certain bass notes not all of them

I suspect you have rattles from the way the rear deck trim sits on the metal. I would consider putting sheet foam between the trim and the metal. Also, the trim itself could be buzzing. Try sitting in the rear seat while music is playing and pressing on different parts of the trim do see if it quiets down.

yea but i dont have a digicam, and i dont wanna take everything off again...soo muhc work, its nothign special, i jsut cut out peices to try to fit the metal parts, does not look perffesional at all....its not like anyoen is gonna see it anyways right?

ROFL.
Hey, after trying a proto set of 6x9 woofers this week, two points:
1) You definitely can have R deck rattles, and should play something while in the back seat pressing on different areas to see where to put foam. This R deck design looks like a rattle machine.
2) If you swap out the 6x9s, or have it done, and a screw or screws fall between the R deck trim and the metal deck, they will rattle all day and all night.
Another way to look for rattles is to use a sine wave sweep track on a test disc. I think you can create one here. http://shop.nti-audio.com/pd_wave.cfm#

I notice when I have the backseat center armrest down then there are more rattles than with it up.
I also noticed if I place the box on the left side of the trunk (The same side that has my amp mounted) The bass is much more clean and I don't hear any rattles.
From the outside though, I'm not sure how the rattles vary based on the placement of the woofer box, but I don't really care what it sounds like from the outside as much as I do the inside.

Is it neccesary to buy the trunk kit or can I just buy the sheets and cut them to fit? Im going to look around Ebay.
