Dvd
Yes it's possible, but...
In a short answer: yes, it's possible. Are we talking about a home DVD player, like a shelf-mounted one? If so, you'red looking at a lot of work. You'd have to purchase a power inverter from some store, one with a plug outlet. You can then power up the DVD player that way. You'd then have to get a TV from somewhere (unless you already have a screen in the car), and plug that in also.
If you're talking about a portable DVD player, yes, you can do it, as most come with car adapters for power now. If not, a power inverter would work well.
Another choice would be to get a car DVD player that can be powered either through the cigarette lighter adapter or hardwired. I have one that I'm selling, and I will sell it on eBay soon. It's an Audiobahn AVDVD1P DVD player.

gatr had some good info. id say an even shorter answer is, yes its possible, anything is possible when it comes to car audio/video. but why would you wanna do this when you can get a dvd player made for your car for probably cheaper that will probably have more functions you will use in your car and is made to be in a car?

I just purchased a cheep home DVD from WALMART and it playes any dvd or video cd you want, even the movies I downloaded from internet and I dont need to convert them to VCD on my computer. You can record a movie to CD as data and this DVD plays it as regular DVD disc
