That's by far the cleanest dual woofer setup I've seen!!! maddddd propz for that idea!! Did you do it yourself or get it done somewhere and if u so, how much was the installation? Only thin I would do differently if I ever go with two subwoofers, I would hide that amp or put something on top of it to protect it. I carry lot of stuff especially golf bags and it ain't amplifier friendly...!!!

THX for the props! It looks super clean in person. I did it myself. If anyone needs this hook up PM me!

I haven't completed my Amp set up yet that's why it's right there. I didn't want to cut anything. In this pic the mres are wrapped up in the material I used for the boxes. I don't want to cut anything for this amp settup since the MRV-F450 is most likely gonna have a little brother or sister soon. That single amp is running a 10 speaker system 2ohms per channel.

With this setup you can still install a flexible net to the 4 connectors in the trunk. That's what I plan on doing.

The passenger side has a little more air space than the drivers side. There should be enough room for a 12 on that side for sure. Drivers side may be a little tight. I could have Squoze(should be a word!) some more air space out of both sides, but decided to make it fit this way. I didn't think there would be enough air space for a 10, but the low notes are nice.

Looks great man

How much airspace is in each box?
Do you get a lot of rattles with the subs there?

Surprisingly, there are no major rattles. Those damn torsion bars rattle just a tad bit and thats it. It sounds pretty damn solid.

I love the setup, but would you still be able to fit multiple golf bags in the trunk? Man, I love the look though!

You can fit golf bags in if you put half of the back seat down or if you take out one of the boxes. I haven't tried, so you might still be able to. I will try it when I get home.

well now you can do the gas shock conversion and eliminate the torsion bar rattles

i would love to do this in my TL for a cleaner look, plus then i could have 2 DVC 10s i will have to look into it myself.

I don't know the length of my golf clubs. I would say you could fit clubs for a person close to 6'. You would need to get some covers to protect the speakers if you want to haul a bunch of stuff around all the time though (or a net thingy)

I will do a full write up with the basics to do it. I can't give all my secrets away, then my install would be the same as everyone else. But here is a picture of the backs when I first pulled them out.

Hey CJ, what do you have securing the subwoofer box to the wheel well? When you take hard turns, does it come loose at all? I'm considering a similar install but want to avoid it coming loose and destroying my trunk.

The box holds itself in. It only goes in and comes out 1 way. Very very tight fit. It stays right where its suppose to without anything holding it.

These aren't "cheap." The construction process is a bit time consumming to get them to fit perfectly and to make them strong enough to take being abused by an amplified subwoofer consistantly.

replace them with gas springs that is what I did. The total bill is like $55 for everything.

How much would you charge to make two boxes like that and ship them. I am looking to do a little more layed back look for my JDM car.

I was originally going to put a sub on one side and the amp on the other. So I made boxes for both sides to decide which side I wanted the speaker on. Then I got addicted to the dual set up.

I may replace the torsion bars with the gas springs later. We will see.

CJams,
Nice setup! I’d like to listen to your subwoofer setup since I also live in Washington. If it sounds good can I buy a similar custom enclosure from you? You mentioned that a 12” sub would probably work on the passenger side, that’s probably something that I would want.

Very nice setup man, I'm in the process of designing a similar setup for my 1st gen cl trunk with 2 x 12's. Just can't decide which design I'm going to go with yet. Very nice job. The carpet makes it look REAL clean
