There are some Resistors needed for the SWR Line going into the SWI-Jack to be 100% Compatible with the Signal, Since its a Universal Interface it cannot be Plug-And-Play with all Cars I guess...

Tough I dont remember Installing any of them...

Hehehe 30°F? Thats Nice if you have a Garage, I installed my Headers on Summer @ 122°F, I lost some weight in the Process thats the Bonus I think!

Yea, I didnt install any resisters. Only one wire connected to the stock harness, then power and ground. Then a 3.5mm jack into the radio.

Ahh! Maybe the 3.5mm Jack doesnt need the Resistor at all?

But still I dont recall installing the Resistor in mine...

there's no jack spot needed for the jack so the instructions say because you use the blue/yellow wire on the back of the kenwood deck and disregard the the jack.. it says u only need one and kenwood's dont have that port for that.

what i don't get is the white wire i connected to pin 3 like it said and that is the fl speaker wire which is weird cause it's a solid white wire as well... but why a speaker wire??? doesn't make sense..

am i missing something here?????

i think i am?? cause it says i don't need a resistor either.. in the instructions

so i need help fellas..

i aint that good i guess

None of the speaker wires are solid white.

What radio do you have? I have to look at the pinout.

And youre using the PAC steering wheel control, right?

Your install will be a bit different since I last used the steering wheel controls on a Pioneer unit.

From what I gather reading through that is:

-Do not cut any of the loop wires
-No resistors are needed
-Red to power
-Black to ground
-White to #3 on factory harness
-Blue/Yellow on interface to radio blue/yellow

#3 is not the speaker wire. You may have your pinouts flipped, or youre looking at the wrong harness. When they say factory harness, they mean the plug that connects to the stock radio, not the Kenwood or Metra harness. You also have to look at the pin side of it, not the wire side.

YEAP i got it wrong alright.. i hooked it up to a FL speaker wire on the metra harness which is solid white.... so that must be the issue...

i still need to address the dimmer which you guys already enlightened me on and i thank you.. then i will tackle this problem i'm having... and then i gotta adjust the trim and the gaps on the metra kit.....

mine was warped slightly and it's not butted up tight to the card tray above.. so i'll just glue the SOB and be done with it...

BTW my sirius radio works without paying any money or subscribing or anything it just works!!!?????? is this normal? also i put the mic and the sirius antenna on the a-pillar drivers side cause i have the dual guage pod i put it on top of the second gauge pod... just siliconed it there and it's way sturdy... reception is quite good. but still is a PITA cause the signal cuts out here and there even when out in the open.. i forgot that's just how she goes. OH well...

i hope sirius is free forever tho i'm ecstattic about that. anyone have the answer why it just works without me doing anything. last time i got this in my for probe days.. it had to be activated (pay money) before i received any signal.

I think they give you a 30 day trial with purchase of a HU Sirious Ready mine didnt have it built it but the Add-On for it has a 30-Day Trial maybe you are on it?

FYI: In my HU you have to go to Screen Settings > Display > Dimmer set to AUTO to enable the ummm auto dimmer hehe otherwise it will be set to Full Automatically...

You can Adjust the Level of Brightness/Gamma/etc by selecting each tab;

First Select FULL and Adjust to your Preferences

Second Select DIMM and Adjust to Low Light Preferences

Third once you Select AUTO it will automatically switch between the 2 with the Adjustments you made...

man you guys are friggin awesome... im gonna actually read through the manual tonight ... this will be the first time ever. lol

the deck also went off then instantly on 2 time that i have recognized at least..

however i had it on for a straight hour and went over all sorts of bumps and nothing happened.... maybe it's just being moody cause i woke it up to begin it's useful life LOL... if it happens more tho i will have to figure out wtf it could be.. all the connections are soldiered and then taped up to the hill so it cannot be a loose connection. but i'm still loving it.... loving it.. lol..

either way i gotta pull the deck back out to fix the gap between the card tray and the metra kit.. after closer inspection it looks like the CAR TRAY FRAME is what is warped thus creating the gap of about 1 mm which is a lot IMHO. at that point i'll wire up the dimmer and solder the white PAC wire to the correct pin, and then ill have my steering wheel controls back... which i do miss o so much

tho it doesn't bother me per se i dont like doing anything half ass so it will be tended to this weekend.

well the deck is not turning off on its own anymore so thats good.

but the volume goes so loud that it makes the speakers fucked...

what speakers shouuld i get to make sure the can handle to power because as it stands i have the volume correct all the way at its lowest point and it still can put too much power to the speakers??? also can i buy new tweeters???? what should i get fellas. i dont wanna put in a new amp.. just want the speakers to handle all the extra power i give them.. cause as it stands they cannot handle the extra power unfortunately and they just distort as i found out today :-(

i think i want all new speaker and dont wanna do any wireing i hope at least?

any reccomendations?

^This is why Im running the line output converter, so I can adjust the levels on the factory speakers.

Aftermarket speakers wont work with the factory Blose amp btw. So youll either have to bypass the factory amp to run new speakers or break down and install an amp (recommended).

As far as speakers go, its all personal preference. The last set I bought were Infinity Kappa Perfects. I love them. They might make it into the CL someday, whenever I stop being lazy.

In the mean time, you may have the ability to adjust the levels from the head unit itself.

yea i adjusted the head unit so it's got a lower output that is fine... but bottom line is... i want it to pump MORE and the speakers just aren't rated for the power i'm giving them now.. therefore i thought buying new speakers that can except more power would fix all that??

but u say the bose amp won't allow for different speakers??? i don't understand why is that? if u don't mind me asking

IIRC the Bose setup is 1-ohm, most speakers on the market are 2 or 4 ohm.

i used aftermarket speakers with the stock Bose amp. they will work. they just won't sound as good as they could with an aftermarket amp and EQ.

I was told when I first joined that aftermarket speakers wont work with the stock Blose amp, but Ive never tried it to be sure.

the door speakers allow for 6.5" speakers.

also, kicker makes a damn fine speaker. I have 4 entry level 6.5" kickers in the doors and 2 kicker 6x9s in the rear deck in my TL and it is LOUD.

SOME 6.5 Speakers... I had to do some mods to get my JLs to fit, The hole in the door was too tight for the magnet to sit.

TO OP: Just bypass the whole BOSE crap and you will get decent sound.... You can get to fit Cheap Speakers in 6.5 form easily, Kickers DS650 will fit nicely on the Stock OEM Plastic basket.

O so my friggin deck turned off instantly then right back on... WTF... it took a week for this to happen again... I searched on google and people said it MAY be the fact the ground is hookeds up to the factory harness and not directly to the chassis??

but then this should have technically happened prior to installation on the stock bose deck???

it's only once in a week but that kinda shit really irritates me.. and i cannot see it being the deck since it was brand spanking new.. i must be missing something???

any ideas guys this is a real pissoff to me..

and it happened in stop traffic i was going 0 so nothing was moving or anything.. i just dunno where to even look...

still gotta hook up steering wheel controls too but i've been soooooo damn busy it's nuts.

any advice would be real swell

and if it is a grounding issue NOT because of my soldering job then technically the car has a problem??? therefore maybe i should get a grounding kit..

i was looking at this one?

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/ACURA-CL-TL-R...#ht_7402wt_754
think it's worth a shot?... i'm game

it also says online that the deck knows if you have a bad speaker which can somehow hurt the head unit and therefore goes into protect mode by shutting down instantly then turning back on..??

this could be the case i have a feelinggggg... maybe i should just change the speakers and then see if it happens again. ???

it also goes on to say if the ohm rating is not the same this can also cause erratic issues with the deck turning on/off.. and we know that my deck is 4 ohms and the speakers are not..

i think i'ma get the grounding kit, get the speakers, get and amp.. and bypass the factory amp and that should solve every potential issue...??

anyhoo i bought the grounding kit... and now just point me to what kenwwod amp and speakers I should get!!????

please and thank you guyz..

Double check all your wiring. Worst case, just round the radio ground right to the chassis. No need to spend $40 on some wires and a piece of aluminum.

i bought the grounding kit because it looks cool and its red so it'll look gangstA under the hood muahahah... more eye candy than anything but hey im sure it'll only help... as our cars only have 2 grounds from the battery and on is mounted to the frame which is painted and the other is bolted to the trans... pretty shityy IMHO

ok for the fronts i am getting the crem de la crem they are the brand new kenwood xr-s17p speakers which come with 1 inch tweeters too and it 4 ohms so that solves that but they are about 300!!! i'm game if it's gonna sound like a symphony though. they are their best 6.5inch excelon speakers. they have a 35% reduction in mounting depth as well and are 50% lighter.

for the rears i am looking at kfc-x693 which are their best excelon 6x9... but it's rated for 3 ohms and nothing they sell for 6x9 is 4 ohm which i thought is weird... the audio guy i got the pricing from said that one ohm does not affect the deck or anything but 2 ohms usually does..??? which makes no sense to me.

he also said i would then need new speaker wiring!! fakkk and obviously the amp..

soo 300 for front speakers/tweeters, 120 for the 6x9s and then 3-400 on the amp and then speaker wire..

what speaker wire should i get and what amp should i get?

SORRY FOR ALLLLLLLLLL the questions.. i wish u guy lived around here i'd just take u all out for dinner for your stellar input you've been giving me all along.. thanks gentlemen

well that solves that the amp i need/want is the kenwood xr-4s which will supply the correct rms to my speakers. not going to buy it here cause they have rapesho prices... sonicelectronix.com seems to be the place to get this stuff so i'm gonna order it off there.

I put a Kenwood ddx-512 in my car & what a difference!Like most of the posts on this topic say,it gets loud quick! The quality of sound however is,in my opinion, much better, which was a major concern for me as well. I am fortunate to have a good friend that owns a car, home audio shop,so a 12 pack of bud light and a handshake got the job done for me.Next step is a couple sets of JL audioC-2 series speakers & a JL amp.Nothing like great music while driving!

has your deck turned off on it's own cause mine does at random times... i hooked the PAC to the wrong wire tho i think a speaker wire and cause the power is on my guess is the deck is picking up the difference and goes into protect mode then turns back on... i gotta get this shit sorted out this weekend... it's driving me nuts now... if i can get the deck to not turn off on its own i will just leave the speakers alone i dont want the hassle. honestly..

personally i think the speakers are louder but LESS clear.. the treble is definitely muffled a bit... that's what happens when u use a 4 ohm deck on a 2 ohm system tho

Looks great. How did your stock navi turn out? Can you still hear the woman's voice in your speaker? I'm thinking or replacing my stock unit since the cd and tape is broken.

1.- The ones you said "blue, yellow, white, orange, and Green" are for the Steering Remote wire Locate the Steering remote Pin, it must be the A3 use this pic as a reference:

Use the GREEN cable on the SWI JACK for the Steering remote!

2.- There must be 1 Blue/Yellow Cable coming out of the SWI Jack thats the Remote return to the HU! You must locate the Remote cable on your kenwood HU!

3.- Now Locate the Kenwood Pin on your KENWOOD HARNESS! guided by my Installation Manual of my DDX514 it must be the Light Blue/Yellow.:

With that only you have to Program the SWI JACK but that must be the easiest part!!

Hope this info Helps you Out!
