double din install

If I got the pioneer cva-1004 and the pioneer dva-7996(monitor with am-fm / dvd-receiver) is there anything else I would need to purchase for the install? and are there any other recommendations for double din installations?

yeah, don't do it.

I did a double din and it was expensive and looked like ass.

its tough to make a double din kit for the cls that looks clean.

I think you would be better off just getting a single din monitor/dvd with a metra kit. its worth the extra dough.

If you can find someone to custom mold you one, it will look sick as hell. But you REALLY need to have it done right.

yeah, it matches very well. no problems with rattling or anything. I'm really happy with mine. I got it for $25 or $30 at a local shop.

might be different now, but when I got mine the kit for the cls wasn't listed on the dealer sheet. so you have to go in there knowing the number of the kit and ask them to special order it.

even the best custom double dins that I have seen don't look any better than the metra kit. and personally I thought the dash looked way too cluttered with two things there. I think it looks a lot cleaner with one.

and the amount of money you spend getting the custom double made, might as well just buy a single unit. unless there is some other reason you would want a double din setup...which I can't think of...

the reason i went w/ double din is b/c i have the stock navi, so if i were to get another motorized lcd screen, it would have to be placed towards teh bottom of the double din area and so that i could view the screen/navi both at the same time... the shop that installed my double din setup did it beautifully and im very satisfied w/ teh results... so to each their own... if you're gonna do it yourself, the metra looks fine, but if you want custom work, get it done right

so how is yours set up? you have a second screen that comes below a seperate dvd player?

you got a pic?

makes sense what you are saying if you have navi though. I wouldn't want the screens overlapping like it does with the metra kit.
