in door speaker wire connections
Hey.
I haven't ripped open my doors yet, but am going to put in a pair of DX6 polks this weekend.
I'm going to do the mods listed in this forum, but was wondering about the actual connection to the speakers.
I've read about clipping off the tabs that stick out and could possibly touch the doors.... will the stock connectors fit the speakers or is everyone just soldering the wires to the terminals?
Thanks

Eggbert,
You're on the right track, and yes you will have to clip the stock connector as it will not fit the Polk. You can solder the connections or splice a bit of the wire provided with the speakers onto the factory wire and use the spade connectors. Personally I prefer to solder but that does not mean you have to.
If you can, after you have connected the door panel wires but before mounting the panel, Roll the window down and peer into the door from the top(where the window comes out) with a flashlight. You will be able to make certain that the window properly clears the speaker wires.
Good luck,
Iggy
