According to www.acura.com, the latest upgrade was in October of 2000. You should check the site to see if you have the latest release. Read your manual and you will see how to find out what version is in your car...

My dealer didn't carry them, I had to order it from an 800 number. I think they come direct from Alpine if I remember correctly.

Acura puts the Nav upgrades out in the fall of each year. If you have a 2000TL there should have been one upgrade since you got the car. I also will upgrade mine but probally wait until the next one comes out.
I would like to find out what version the 2002 TL & Type-S Nav have in them.

I believe the 2002 and 2001's have the same version navigations. Now I don't feel so bad. Can't wait for the update.

I just picked up the 2002 TL, Black with Parchment. Love it.. The Navi is well worth the money. Just need to get street to put some video in there for me.. The 2002 Came with version 2.03 of the DVD software, same as the 01's. I called the 800# and Acura plans an update for September timeframe, and she said it was going to be a good update.. Whatever that means.

I hope that it will be a good update & they keep the price the same or lower it.

When the 2000 TL came out, I ran to the dealer and asked if I could upgrade my Nav system to the newer one w/ DVD. I have driven out to California twice (from Texas), and have had to go states without Nav. Not like I need detailed directions to follow Rt. 40 or 10, but it's always nice to have stats on how far you have to go, etc.

The dealer told me that the Nav could *not* be upgraded. Does anybody know if this is really the case, or is it a case of lazy-service-guy syndrom?

Also, anybody else have the '99 Nav system and pissed that you'll have to start paying for updates this year? I've had my map swapped between the TX, AZ and California maps a few times. I wish I had a way to copy them so I didn't have to stop at a dealer. But starting now (hey, my car just turned 2 years old today, I just realized!!), I have to start paying for updates. If I have the TX map and pay for the CA map, do I have to pay for the TX map I already had when I get back? This is screwy, and I wish they'd do away with it entirely since 2000 and later folks don't even *have* to pay for upgrades if they're happy with the version of the map they have. I'm SOL as soon as I cross a region boundary. ;-(

Also, does anybody know what the new features are after the '99 Nav system? There are a mess of them I'd love to see. Like being able to find "the closest McDonald's", that kind of thing. In mine, I can find restaurants, sort-by-driving-distance, or I can look for a place name (but in some nonsensical order)... but not place name by distance. Nutty.
