Does anyone have the XM satallite radio?

Is it worth the $9.95 a month? It's not much, but is it worth it?

I am not planing on getting it for my car. Since the XM state - of the art headquarters & brodcast center is located not more than 8 min from my house here in Washington DC. I was intrested in what it was all about. They have been working on that 100yr old printing factory as the new center for a few years now & its going to employ130 people may grow to 350 next summer. I also get adds from the installer that put in my Clifford Alarm system. This is a high end radio shop in DC. They have an add that says to reserve your XM reciver as supplies will be limited. They also say the XM services begins on November 15. If it is a big hit this is something I will most likly get on my next car. I think the recivers willl be manufactured by Alpine, Sony,Delco/Delphi Elctronics,Clarion, Motarola, Sharp,Mitsubishi

it'll be good if you travel a lot and/or have a surround sound system in your car....as 1) you get uninterrupted channels and no dead spots and 2) you get dolby 5.1 sound. However they probably should have waited for the idea till surround sounds in the car got to be bigger...because I mean...why pay for radio now ???

I am waiting for all of the retailers in LA to get the Sony XM reciever. I don't want to pull my deck, so the sony unit makes the most sense. There was a demo van at the mall last week and it is well worth the money if you are tired of listening to DJs that think they are funny.

I guess it's sort of a question for...those of you that have sattelite/digital cable...those premium music channels that all come in dolby 5.1...do you listen to them?

I like the idea of commercial free radio. Cause I know I get tired of dj's annoucing a good song coming up next, then they play like 10 commercials and by the time the good song comes on you are already at your destination...

So here is a question if anybody knows the answer.
If you get that XM reciever does it just get XM brodcast signal or do you get normal radio station AM-FM bands also. It not worth it to only get XM brodcast only. What if you wanted to get a local radio station brodcast.

Yes, you still get regular AM/FM radio stations.

A friend of mine has it and there are tons of stations. I think it would take yu a month just to find all the ones you like. I'm hearing that it will be free in about 2 years though, and it will start coming with benzes and bimmers as part of audio packages, but who knows.
