Hey Guys,
I plan on getting the SPR-13S Apline Type-R Speakers....

Now I don't have a amp for it...but will they sound good without one......

or

should I buy the Type-S speakers that don't require much power???

 

Whether you have a stock deck or aftermarket head unit, I would strongly recommend running an amp. The speakers will sound fine, but you'll notice distortion as you turn up the volume.

Good choice in speakers though.

 

I would amp those speakers.

 

It doesn't matter what speakers you run, if you want the better sound quality that the speakers are really capable of, you should amp them. Even if the amp is rated for less power than your hu, the amp'ed speakers will still sound better.

 

I have an aftermarket deck...and I am pretty sure my car has a stock amp...don't all 3.0 CL's???

I plan to get an after market amp down the road but if you were me which one would you get....

 

the type-s's work better without an amp, the type-r's are more demanding

 

but....will the type R sound good.....

Wait to by speakers until you can buy the amp at the same time. That's the way I did it, and it worked out very well. This way, you only have to tear the car apart once too...
