Yes, the text scrolls for song, artist, and album.

i wonder for the people with XM would it be possible to rig up a splitter of some kind but also wire in a switch to kill power to one device so the other would work. i'm no electronics expert by any means so thats probably not even possible is it

Sadly, it's not that simple. You can't kill the power and then turn it back on to a unit - the car will drop it from it's system when the power is lost and won't reconize it until you restart the car. Even a physical toggle switch on the L/R audio wires could possibly cause problems.

OK. No ipod w/text + XM. That's ok with me because I don't want XM. How do I turn off XM? Can I just disconnect from the "Y" cable or does that contain other info?

Yea, just yank it from the Y cable and you're set.

Y cable

You will have to disconnect your xm receiver in the trunk if you want text from the Dice module

You don't have to go that far, just don't plug it back in when you install the DICE kit and you'll accomplish the same thing.

Still, if you removed the whole thing I wonder if you could get a few bucks for it on eBay?

Not unless you went with an external screen'd XM reciever.

Unfortunately not, since Acura only does text through your xm input.

Not sure if this has been answered yet or not, but will this still display text for us Canadians who didn't have XM as an otpion? I'd like something that will display song title, etc. on screen, but don't know if the Canadian units support it.

HMMM. Good question. My first answer is going to be yes. You should still have the button if it's an North American model, yes?

I still have the problem with XM bleed thru. I disconected the XM cable from the R4 "Y" connector, but that also disables the nav screen. I can't even enter the nav code. Does anyone know where the XM "brain" is? Maybe I can disconnect the cable there.

The navi harness also has a Y in it and the XM is plugged into that. Go and pull the connection that's plugged into the wire you disconnected.

The XM brain is in the trunk, but I'm not 100% sure exactly where - sorry about that.

Nope, no button for XM. I have AM, FM, CD, Aux. That's it. And from what I can gather, the CD player does not read CD Text either. What a bummer.

Do me a favor: What's the model number of your headunit? It may be printed in tiny numbers on the front of the radio or it will be on the topor side of it (you'll have to pull it out to see it, it's a pain so if you don't wanna I wouldn't blame you)

Also, what car do you have exactly? Year? Trim package?

Finally pop open your drivers-side door and tell me the manufacture date and plant it was assembled in.

Everything works as it should, (steering wheel controls, text display, playlist selection, etc etc) except it locks out the audio controls on the iPhone itself. You can still do everything with the phone except control the music.

You have the option not to use airplane mode. Its not necessary on the usa spec i have, it doesn't interfere.

No, it will give you the option but there's no need to put it into airplane mode. You can say no or just wait one minute and the message will go away by itself.

Okay, so I checked the face of the stereo, and the model number is 7GS0, build date is 02/07. It's a Canadian 2007 NBP/Black TSX w/ Navi.

I just ordered my Dice R4 kit from an Autotoys group buy ($140 shipped)

I have a 07 TSX (non navigation) All I want is text display and ipod control through the steering wheel. I am willing to give up XM, so the R4 kit was what I needed correct?

Anyway, the product description is conflicting from what I've been reading on the forum.

Description from Cartoys:

-----

FAQs from some emails we have been receiving, here are some answers:

Let me clear up some confusion.

The R3 gives you text, but it does not support XM. You need to disconnect your XM module for the text to work.

The R4 lets you KEEP your xm, but it does not give you text since you are keeping your XM. The text basically comes through via the XM mode.

If you have factory navigation, the R4 kit is the kit that is needed, the R4 kit is designed for Navigation radios.

------

but what I've been reading on the forums, is if i want text I need the R4 kit and lose my XM radio.

You only needed the R3 kit since you don't have navi or XM.

The differences between the R3 & R4 kits have nothing to do with text. You can get text on both. The R4 kit merely includes a Y-Harness so you can plug in your XM or Navi. That's all.

I couldn't find the model number for the 07 that was just here so what I would like to do is send you the kit. Gopal, PM me if you're interested. If it doesn't work to your satisfaction I'll take it back of course.

So do you mean that you can't control the volume? Can you still select playlists and songs on the iPhone itself?
I saw somewhere you were working on an update that will not lock the controls... If I buy one today will if be upgradable? (firmware?) or it will be a new box all together?

Thanks!

You would control the volume from the headunit of your car, the same as you do now.

You will not be able to change the music at all on the iPhone.

No, we're working on seeing if it's even possible to unlock the iPhone at all. If it is, then there will be an update. An update requires that you send your box in and we'll send you a new one. There's no charge for this.

Definately Recommend the DICE for the TSX

Hey guys,

My Music Link was finally removed by the dealer and I got money back. Then a couple of days ago I went and saw Nick at DICE. He hooked my 2007 tsx with the DICE unit and this thing is great. It does everything that I wanted out of a Navi/iPod integration.

If you are looking to see ipod text from the navi screen and search through your songs through the steering wheel and the navi, then go with this unit. You do lose XM though, as been mentioned before. I am not trying sell this thing for Nick, Nick just asked me to give an honest opinion of what I thought of the unit after a couple of days. Honestly it is everything he and others have said it would be, full integration.

The guys at DICE were great and very helpful and I am a very satisfied customer - especially after coming from the Acura Music Link which has nowhere near the same functionality.

Nick I know you took some pics when the unit was being installed on my car, throw them up on the forum if you want.

Hope this helps anyone who is questioning the DICE unit's capabilities, later.

So I purchased the DICE unit for my 06 TSX without Navi, and I can't get the text to work. (I guess I'm being the guinea pig here, since we have yet to see proof of this working on a non-navi TSX).

Nick, is there a trick to getting the text to work? I can hear music, control the ipod, and the "DICE" text along with firmware versions shows up on my screen, but no artist/album/playlists. It just shows "no info." Do I need to tinker with the text scroll settings? I played with them a bit, and followed the 30 second restart note in the manual, but no luck. Any suggestions before I return the unit for a refund?

jswim: have you tried holding down the "audio" button to switch which line of text is displayed on your HU? In the navi version its "audio" that you hold down for 5 seconds, in the non-navi it may be another button.

The fact that it says "no info" is actually good, that means its looking for something, but it isn't there. Look again at this pic:

Cycling through the lines with the audio button should bring up each sequential line. "no info" could be for the xm station line or another feed that its not looking for.

off topic question:

I installed the us spec for my ipod in an 04 tsx, when I turn the car off, the ipod keeps charging, once completely charged, will it shut off?

thanks!
